Why You’ll Love Plantain Chips, 2 Pack
If you can’t eat just one of these chips, in this case it’s not a bad thing. That’s because Inka Crops Plantain Chips are loaded with good-for-you nutrients in addition to irresistible crunch and flavor guaranteed to leave you feeling satisfied at snack time. Delicately roasted in pure palm oil and seasoned with just the right amount of sea salt, Inka Crops’ all-natural treat is gluten-free and Paleo-friendly. Eat the chips straight out of the bag or served alongside slightly spicy ceviche, creamy dips, guacamole, and tomato salsas (check out some of our favorite recipes below).
Plantains vs. bananas
Plantains are a member of the banana family, but there are a few key differences between the two. While bananas are a sweet, sugary fruit most commonly consumed raw, plantains are starchy, lower in sugar, and taste best when cooked (otherwise they are pretty bland). In many ways, plantains are more similar to starchier root vegetables like potatoes, carrots, and yams than they are to their super-sweet banana doppelgängers.
Plantains are a versatile ingredient for many savory recipes including lasagna and empanadas. They are most commonly enjoyed fried or baked, and are popular in Western African and Caribbean countries.
Sourcing of Inka Crops Plantain Chips
Inka Crops sources their plantains from the rich valleys of Peru, where they grow abundantly in the tropical, sub-equatorial climate and are among the ripest, sweetest, and highest quality in the world. Like all Inka Crops products, these plantain chips are non-GMO certified.
Health benefits of plantain chips
Compared to potato chips, plantain chips are a relatively low-fat source of energy-fueling carbohydrates. They’re also packed with a number of health-promoting nutrients including:
- Fiber: This important dietary ingredient not only prevents constipation and regulates the digestive system, but it can also help stave off more serious diseases like diabetes, heart disease, even colon cancer.
- Magnesium: From helping to regulate blood pressure to preventing osteoporosis, there are many ways magnesium keeps the body healthy. Other examples include relief from migraine headaches, insomnia, and depression.
- Potassium: Plantains are one of the most potassium-rich foods in the world! Potassium plays an integral role in regulating blood pressure and heart rhythm. Plus, studies show that people who consume diets high in this mineral tend to be at a lower risk of stroke, osteoporosis, and renal disease.
- Vitamin A: This powerful, fat-soluble vitamin is involved in immune function, cell communication, reproduction, and eye health. Because it supports normal functioning of the membranes around the eye and cornea, it’s critical to vision. It also plays a major role in the growth and regeneration of the heart, lung, kidney, and skin cells.
- Vitamin B6: A member of the vitamin B family, B6 is useful for its immune- and energy-boosting properties and plays a key role in the formation of antibodies, which fight off infection and disease. Our bodies also need B6 to maintain stable blood glucose levels and break down protein from food.
Because of their impressive nutritional profile, plantains can help:
- Reduce blood pressure
- Regulate the digestive system
- Fight free radicals
- Boost immunity
- Promote brain health
- Control hunger
Health benefits of palm oil
Unlike many roasted plantains on the market that are fried in vegetable oil, Inka Crops uses Paleo-approved palm oil, which is a rich source of antioxidants and immune support, especially vitamin C. Subsequently, the health benefits of palm oil include reduced risks of a variety of diseases including:
- Alzheimer’s disease
- Cognitive impairment
- Blood clotting
- High cholesterol
- High blood pressure
Combine the health properties of palm oil with that of plantains, and you’ve got yourself a snack that does good for both your taste buds and your body.
About regular potato chips
Sure, they taste good. But you might not feel so good after eating potato chips. That’s because many are loaded with trans fat. This popular ingredient is an essential component because it helps keep the chips crisp and prolong shelf life. Unfortunately, the benefits of trans fat stop there; and too much can result in a number of detrimental health problems like:
- Clogged arteries (and increased risk of heart disease)
- Increased levels of bad (LDL) cholesterol
- Decreased levels of good (HDL) cholesterol
Other reasons to switch from traditional chips is you’ll avoid huge amounts of salt, empty calories, and BHT, a food additive that’s been linked to cancer when consumed in large amounts.
The perfect dips for plantain chips
Although they’re perfectly tasty on their own, Inka Crops Plantain Chips also go well with a number of savory dips. Try these three for some extra pop.
Slow-roasted tomatoes lend a robust sweetness to an otherwise spicy salsa. The result is the perfect complement for Inka Crops’ semi-sweet plantain chips.
For a creamier, less spicy dip, whip up this unique hummus which replaces chickpeas with cauliflower for an extra light, smooth texture.
Or get even more creative and dunk plantain chips into the tangy flavors of muhammara—a traditional Syrian dip of vibrant red bell peppers and hearty walnuts.
More about Inka Crops
Inka Crops is a Peruvian company founded in 1998, offering a wide variety of natural products made from raw materials of the highest quality from the country’s rich valleys. All Inka Crops products are certified non-GMO and kosher, and are free of trans fat.

Based on 91 Reviews
Great grab-and-go snack. A nice sub for potato chips or other crisps.
I ate both of these bags on a weekend camping trip. I meant to share, but I ended up eating most of the bags on my own. They're crunchy and delicious with just the right amount of salt. Highly recommended!
These come in 2 bags that have a lot of chips in. They were not full of broken crumbly chips. Taste fresh and slightly soft. Most plantain chips I have tasted from supermarkerts tasted hard and bland. Great procuct for the money.
Excellent, great flavor and texture. Nice size.
I love these and wish the bags were way larger.
My favorite snack, especially with guacomole.
- Debbie Nava
My husband and I love these snacks!
I Couldn't Choose
Both these and Chipoltle ones are so good.
These are tasty and slightly addictive. They're a great pre-made starch option for meals. They're also a delicious travel-friendly food. I just wish they didn't use palm oil as its harvesting is hurting the rainforests. It's hard for me to find portable foods I can digest though, so I continue to buy them.
These are very crispy and delicious...my favorite way to eat them is with Muenster.
delicious with sriracha mayo
what a wonderful snack ! and it's good for you. Love it. very tasty, can be eaten all by itself or use it with a dip, like hummus, or avocado or whatever is your favorite. great stuff.
Hits the spot munchie! I don't feel guilty snacking with this treat.
super crunchy chips
These chips are perfect for those of us who love super crunchy chips. They are good any time of the day!
I LOVE THESE CHIPS. They all and just about replaced all of the mainstream leading brands of potato chips in my pantry.
I'm addicted to them. I must try out the chipolte flavor.
I just hope they don't go up on the price.
These are so addictive! I highly recommend with guacamole
I was expecting something like banana chips, hard and sweet. Wow, was I surprised! These have a mild flavor are not hard at all (firm, just right) and not overly sweet. Great crunching snack, definitely will repurchase.
These Just Replaced Lays and the other brands
When I first had the snack sampler. I was skeptical as all get out. One of the ones I was skeptic on, was these chips. I must say, I as TURNED on. I can't get enough. Believe me, you'll prefer these as a good alternative to potato chips of the national brand.
Get these, and they are at a good price. I'll have to try their chipotle brand.
These are delicious! I can eat a bag in one sitting
Best plantain chips I have found so far in the US. I totally recommended to try it
Yum! Had to stop myself from eating the entire bag in one sitting!
good, good, good!
I do particularly enjoy plantain chips & have eaten several brands in my lifetime, so far these are the least saltiest of all I have tried which alleviates some of the guilt associated with indulging in a fried snack chip for me
Crunchy, tasty, not too salty. Perfect on the go snack or in between meals. Washed down really well with cold coconut water.
- Kandy L. Crabtree
My husband and daughter really likes them. I think they would be great in a homemade trail mix but thought they were a little plain on their own. I prefer the chili ones. :)
I eat these like candy, which is good that they are not candy. Great flavor, offers that salty crunch you sometimes crave.
crispy, lightly salty deliciousness... would purchase again
I love plantains and these are fresh and crisp with just the right amount of salt, makes a great snack.
- Ann gomez
Can't have enough!
Absolutely delicious! My husband and I couldn't stop eating them!
For being the banana's cousin. These are addictive and awesome.
these are very good, just a little different than I expected - a little salty, not sweet. but a good taste & crisp!
Love plantain chips!
Great crunchy snack. One small bag lasts me a few times.
Inka Plantain chips
- Bernice Wagerman
- Andrea Herrera Sanchez
Plantain chips were salty enough, but too thick. Hard chewing. Would not purchase again.
These are super filling and delicious
Consistently good, and I appreciate the quality ingredients, too. Only problem is I eat too many!
They are o.k.
We were expecting sweet . . . I think I would have liked them more if they were sweet.
Would like lemon flavor!
- Jean jean
These are the best I've had. And the ingredients are much more agreeable with palm oil rather than being cooked in genetically modified oils.
Good snack item
Seemed more healthier than the ones from the store. Not greasy or overly salty. My husband liked them, & he is very picky. My little grandson liked them too.
Love this brand. Tastes just like chips!
Better than expected.
I've never tried plantain chips before, but these are my new favorite!!!
LOVE IT, WILL PURCHASE MORE
- Yi Chen
THe se are tasty with the right amount of salt. Also the bag is very full compared to the ones you get from the store, which are filled with hair. I would definately recommend them. Also they are less expensive.
a nice change from the usual chip...
I used to get plantain chips asa kid and loved them and they disappeared form the stores for the most part sadly. I was thrilled to find these at the last second when placing my last order, I wish they were slightly thinner like the old ones used to be, but taste is good.
Basically potato chips
Not paleo (cooked in bad oils) and they're very salty. Thought they'd be sweet.
I love these plantain chips! They are so delicious and make a great snack. They are also a wonderful replacement for tortilla chips with guacamole!
Great taste and texture! So glad it's made with a healthy oil!
Awesome. Will definitely purchase again.
Great taste! Crisp and just enough salt! Satisfies hunger and is delicious. I never tried plantain chips before and I will definitely buy these again on every order! Also the palm oil is fairly sourced so that's an important plus!
Softer than banana chips, tastes like a potato chip, and I don't feel guilty when I accidentally eat the whole bag.
Crunchy and delicious
We love these for snacks on the go! They don't crumble easily and arent sweet. Good for dipping.
tried for 1st time and was a bit leery as many items like this tend to be bland or dry. but surprisingly very tasty!
Wife loves em
Best I've Had!
These plantain chips are so good! I appreciate that they are lightly salted. These are great with guacamole, hummus, or right out of the bag.
My Healthy Chip Option
This definitely satisfies my chip cravings but in a healthy way. Will be ordering these routinely.
- Kristin M.
These are very addicting! Be careful or you could eat the whole package! I love these plantain chips! They're perfectly salty and great for snacking!
Satisfies my chip obsession
Great clean replacement for potato chips. Will definitely buy more.
So these chips are great, but they taste more like banana chips than plantain chips. I prefer thinner chips, but that's just me. If you like them thick cut, these are for you.
Excellent product! Love it!!!
- Shawn Christenson
these are awesome - and a great way to get in plantains, which can be hard to find! get these!
A love a hate relationship
I love these, but I always end up eating the whole bag, which is I think 3 or 4 servings. Lots of carbs anyways. I love to eat them with Guacamole or any other dip.
My Favorite Snack
I love these when I need a crunchy, salty snack. They don't have a super strong plantain flavor. They are good with cheese and salami too, if you are avoiding regular crackers.
Great Healthy Option!
I'm always trying to get my sons to eat more fruits and veggies. These plantain chips are amazing! They actually ASK for these, in their lunch. Ever since I started getting them, no more potato chips in the house!
The chips are thin, crispy, and have just a little salt to them. I also love that the ingredients are Plantains, Palm Oil, and Salt. Short list of simple ingredients is great, and I know that I'm feeding them something wholesome. Just great all around!
- Leslie Little
Delicious junk-free snack
These are an awesome potato chip replacement! I love supporting companies that use wholesome products and create wholesome foods!
I've had a very hard time finding good 'on-the-go' foods because I recently changed my diet to cut out dairy, legumes, eggs, and all chemicals and additives so these chips have come in handy countless times for me. I definitely recommend them!
Great for Potato Chip cravings!
Growing up, potato chips were a go-to snack; so when I started educating myself about what I put in my stomach, I had to find something to satisfy those cravings for salty/crunchy/starchy. At first I tried pretzel sticks, but I didn't like all the white flour I was eating.
Thank goodness for Plantain Chips! A Vegan friend of mine suggested them, and they are the perfect switch! They're less salty than potato chips, but salty enough to satisfy the craving. Very crunchy, and a bit on the oily side (YUM) I absolutely love these ones because they only have 3 ingredients, all of which a little kid could read out loud. I'd give these 10 stars if I could.
- Clairee Snyder
Perfect for crunchy cravings
Great guilt free snack. I'm trying to cut out junk food from my diet when I can and it's hard to find healthy alternatives to that oh-so-satisfying potato chip crunch. These were so unexpectedly delicious and I like bananas but I'm actually happy that they tasted less like bananas and more like a savory chip. Not too salty and the palm oil they're roasted in is definitely better than regular chips. I always keep a bag on hand in case I feel the urge to snack, and a little handful goes a long way. Yum!
- Emilio Owens
A little too thick.
I love fresh plantains! And although I am not the biggest fan of plantain chips, these seemed to surpass my expectations.
I would prefer thin chips to the thickness that this brand offers. However, the thickness and amount of salt in each bite balances out for a good taste. Great for vegans!
- Evan L.
Gluten-Free Cracker Substitute
Very crunchy, lightly salted and Gluten-Free! A member of my family has Celiac's Disease but loves eating snacks, like crackers, while watching TV. Unfortunately, he does not like gluten-fee cracker alternatives. But, he loves these!
The only downside is that if you are watching your carb count, you may not want to eat the entire bag at one time.
- Nicolas Beck
Best Chips - Ever!
I'm not sure how I made it through life until now without these chips. They are amazing! Crunchy, salty and satisfying. Quite possibly my new favorite food. They are not sweet, as some people might think. I have lots of food allergies and can't eat many other snacks, so I am thankful for these. I'm intolerant to gluten, corn and dairy, and following an AIP (Auto-Immune Protocol) Paleo diet, and I eat these every day. I have a hard time eating less than two servings at a time, because they're so good. These are highly recommended!
Simply the best!
These are the best plantain chips! They stay crunchy and the texture doesn't change once a package has been opened!
These taste just like regular potatoe chips!
I and my family love these. I order these every time. They're addicting!
- Elizabeth A
Great Flavor, Great Crunch
They're a great sized bag, with nice thick chips that are perfectly seasoned. The cut of the chips allow for two to three days worth of snacks.
Great taste and price
These are a staple in my home. Taste wonderful and can't beat the price.
- A. W.
I love these chips. I eat just a few when I need a snack. They're also good for dipping into things. They're not super salty, which can be nice.
Odd taste from palm oil
I see some reviewers complaining about these being too salty, but the issue I had was that the taste of the palm oil comes through too much. Seems like an unnecessary ingredient...they would have been better if just plantains and a bit of salt.
Great kid snack
These are a staple at our house - the kiddos love to snack on them and I love how healthy they are. Great price as well!
Everything I'd ever want in a plantain chip! SO GOOD, will be ordering again!! Hope to try these as "nachos" next time. :)
Great alternative to potato chips
I bought these thinking they would be sweet. They aren't sweet, but are delicious! Very similar to a thick potato chip. Yum!
Too thick for me
I like plantain chips instead of salty crackers or regular potato chips, but these are cut too thickly for me. They remind me a little of root vegetable chips, where some of those taro chips are thick cut and hard to chew. I like thinner chips that crunch easier and are easier to eat and enjoy. So for that reason, though the flavor of these is on point, I have to give it only three stars.

When I'm craving plantains
Last year, I traveled through Ghana on a backpacking trip through the Kakum rain forest. It was a great trip, and two things I enjoyed eating was fresh sugar cane and fried plantain. Now, you have to understand, fresh fried plantain is awesome, sweet, oily and spicy. There's nothing like it here unless you make your own. But it's also laden with fat. So these plantain chips, while not a duplicate, do have that distinct plantain flavor that I liked, and none of the oil, fat and sugar. So I eat them to satisfy my craving, and they work just fine.
Better than Trader Joe's brand
I used to buy the Trader Joe's brand of plantain chips which are really good, but I wanted to try something else that came in a bigger package too, and was similar in price.
I found these on Thrive for just about the same as what I pay at Trader Joe's, but these are even better. The plantain is perfectly salted, and the chips has a crispness and flavor that is subtle but oh so good.
Don't be fooled into thinking these are going to taste the way a fresh plantain would. I've had fresh plantains, and they are much sweeter than these chips. I can't imagine that taste in these chips, it would be too much, but these are perfect and filling and healthy.
- Jade R.
Healthier than potato chips
I love plantain chips. Unlike the real thing, they are not sweet, but have a distinct grainy flavor. These plantain chips are not greasy, and won't leave your hands oily. They have a deep crunch, and they're made from plantain and that's about it. Low in calories, sugar and sodium, they are a healthy alternative to potato chips that I like to snack on between meals without feeling a lot of guilt.
- Justin Robertson
Wonderful Anytime Snack
These Roasted Plantain Chips are so yummy; I can't get enough of them! I purchased my first bag at a boutique health food store a few towns over. I ate most of the bag before I got home.
I couldn't keep driving miles to get my snack fix, so I searched online. Thrive Market has the best prices on these plantain chips and so much more. I order my chips and within a few days, they're at my door!
- Kelly P
These are very delicious, but they are incredibly salty. You might not notice it with the first bite or two, but then it will hit you.
People wanting to be low on sodium will want to avoid these. Not good for high blood pressure.
- Stanley Sell
A little salty
Kind of like banana chips, these plantain chips have just the right amount of thickness and crunch to them. They are a healthy and satisfying snack.
They are sweeter than banana chips, but saltier. One oz. has 60 mg sodium. They do contain a good amount of potassium.
- Gabe Light
These are the best roasted plantain chips I've ever had. They are lightly salted, which gives them added flavor.
They are full flavored but not over-powering, and no weird after taste. They have just enough salt on them to taste, but it doesn't cover the flavor of the fruit.
- Ms. Selvy
Great for Food Allergists
I have a couple friends with food allergies, so I'm constantly on the look-out for yummy treats that everyone can share. These have fit the bill. Since the ingredients only include the plantains, some palm olein, and some sea salt, I don't have to worry about food allergens with my friends, and everybody enjoys the taste. They don't taste as sweet as bananas, and they're very flavorful. They seem to go best with water as any other type of flavored drink really seems to be reduced compared to the flavor of these chips.
- Emily A.
Bananas are still better
I know that plantains are good for you, but I think their flavor leaves something to be desired. I am a banana addict. However, I am not a fan of plantains. They are just far too sweet for my taste buds.
I did like these plantain chips far more than fresh plantains. That sweet taste seems more fitted to them.
These are so yummy!
I bought these from a mexican grocer and was so pleased with the flavor, crunch, and ingredient list! They are just plantains, palm oil, and salt
