Why You’ll Love Organic Diced Tomatoes
Sometimes being in the red can be a good thing, like when you have a plate full of juicy tomatoes just waiting to be devoured. Tomatoes and tomato sauces are some of the most versatile cooking ingredients around; they’re used for pizzas, pastas, sandwiches, salads, and just about everything in between. In fact, Thrive has found ways to use the fruit at breakfast, lunch, and dinner, which is a great way to tap into the many health benefits of tomatoes multiple times per day.
Options like Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes assure you are getting the best quality available. Jovial uses only 100% organic produce that locks in all the rich vitamins, antioxidants, and phytochemicals. And with absolutely no added ingredients, these diced tomatoes are gluten-free and low in fat and sodium.
Jovial’s tomatoes come straight from a small family farm in Italy. During the hot summer months, they are given the utmost attention and are picked at the peak of freshness. They only travel a short distance from the field to where they are packed into glass jars, providing a premium product without worry of harmful chemicals like BPA.
It’s as close to home canning as possible, without the extra work.
Why organic tomatoes are better
Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes are made with only two ingredients: organic tomatoes and organic tomato purée. So, why does it matter to choose organic tomatoes over traditional kinds sold at the market? There are a few different reasons, but primarily it has to deal with the skin of the tomato itself.
If you cut open a fresh tomato, you’ll notice how thin the outer skin is. Unlike other fruits and vegetables, such as watermelon and eggplant, tomatoes only have a small layer that protects the content inside. That means that if pesticides are used (which is often the case with non-organic tomatoes), the chemicals will be more easily able to get past the outer layer and seep into the food you eat—even if you wash them beforehand.
Tomatoes are regarded as one of the riskiest foods for contamination, and even a small amount of exposure can lead to uncomfortable symptoms such as nausea, abdominal cramps, diarrhea, dizziness, anxiety, and confusion. Exposure to pesticides is also associated with a number of other problems like respiratory issues, memory disorders, skin conditions, depression, miscarriage, birth defects, cancer, and neurological conditions like Parkinson’s disease.
As if there weren’t already enough reasons to go with organic tomatoes, it’s also important to remember the impact organic produce has on the environment. Tomatoes grown with pesticides are fertilized at a significantly faster rate, potentially leading to soil that will become depleted of all of its valuable nutrients. On the other hand, organic farms cycle their crops carefully, making sure that the land can be used for many seasons in the future.
The health benefits of organic tomatoes
Not only does going organic mean that no nasty pesticides are involved, but it also offers higher concentrations of the healthy parts of the produce. Tomatoes are naturally rich in fiber and vitamins A, E, and K. Generally speaking, this naturally occurring goodness becomes magnified when the fruit is harvested on organic farms. Some of the most potent vitamins and minerals in a tomato include:
- Vitamin C, which helps make the body as healthy as possible. It can reduce or prevent complications from colds, like pneumonia and lung problems. Vitamin C is also responsible for keeping skin hydrated, which gives it a smooth, youthful appearance.
- Lycopene, the antioxidant that gives tomatoes a bright red hue, but also helps humans in maintaining the strength of cell membranes. This lets good nutrients into the body while keeping toxic materials out, which helps to prevent occurrences of heart disease, infertility, diabetes, cataracts, and osteoporosis. Tomatoes are the primary source of lycopene.
- Kaempferol, a mighty phytochemical that is 97 percent more concentrated in organic tomatoes and offers anti-inflammatory effects as well as helping to prevent cancer.
Cooking with Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes
From pasta to soup, eggs and pizza, there is no shortage of ideas for cooking with premium diced tomatoes.
Creamy tomato soup goes dairy-free when using mashed-up chickpeas in place of dairy. Combine with diced tomatoes, olive oil, rosemary, garlic, and honey for an easy-to-cook recipe that is great for lunch or dinner.
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially when you have a tasty dish you can look forward to when you wake up. Forgo the traditional eggs and bacon and instead whip up “eggs in purgatory,” a spicy concoction that fuses poached eggs with a spicy tomato sauce. You can also add feta cheese on top to amp up the flavor.
Sub in Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes for sauce-based pizza that’s just as tasty. Top with some veggies from the fridge—zucchini, black olives, and avocado are recommended—and grill the crust for that authentic wood-fired charred flavor. And the best part is, it’s totally vegan.
This recipe could vie for any cook-off. Made with diced tomatoes, tomato paste, ground beef, beef bone broth, and a helping of zesty spices like chili powder, cayenne pepper, paprika, and red pepper flakes, this hearty chili is both Paleo friendly and provides a super boost of protein for lunch and dinner.
Traditional Angel Hair Pasta
There’s nothing wrong with sticking to the basics, too. Boil this angel hair pasta or try a gluten-free fettuccine, and then top your noodles with a homemade sauce made of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and a dose of hearty spices like garlic and oregano.

Wonderful and Clean
I've ordered them again and again, but the packaging problem persists. The last order had another broken jar. The price is better than what I find in any store locally and the taste of my sauces really makes a difference: brighter.
Tasty tomatoes from a trustworthy brand
I love Jovial's tomatoes! I refuse to buy any products/brands that are linked to corporations, which makes buying any pre-made / preserved foods very difficult. Joval is a small family brand that I trust, and their tomatoes are amazing. The price on Thrive cannot be beat... I was buying these jars at Whole Foods for $4.99-$5.99 each!
Organic Diced tomatoes
The Best, the only diced tomatoes I will buy..
Just what I needed, great product.
Organic Diced Tomatoes
So happy to find tomatoes in a jar!! Nice to get away from canned, great flavour and a great price:)
Jovial Organic Diced Tomatoes
An excellent product. The color and taste far surpassed any other tomato product I have ever purchased.
Delicious! We use lots of tomatoes when we cook. These are very tasty!
- Linda Raden
I use this in all my Italian and Mexican cooking. I love it.
So great to have an option that's not in a can!
- Tammy Pigott
Delicious flavor, organic, glass jar, and super price. Couldn't be better. The only tomato brand I'll by from this point forward. And only from Thrive.
Jovial diced tomatoes
These taste just like home canned tomatoes
I love that I can get organic and no can. I prefer glass jars as fewer chemicals in contact with the food vs a can. BPA-free can liners are using BPB, we just don't know what it does to us yet! This is my new go-to for canned tomatoes - very nice.
Great to have organic tomatoes come in health conscience jars and lids.
Organic Diced Tomatoes
Great for any soup and we enjoy reusing the glass container.
Hard to find diced tomato in glass container! I like to avoid cans when possible, especially when it comes to tomato and their acidity!
pure & simple
As one who has multiple food intolerances, I love that this product just has tomatoes and I can always add the spices or extras that I can tolerate. I have placed multiple orders for this product. It's the best!
Love this glass jar
So good to finally find organic tomatoes in a jar instead of a can. No worries about can chemicals.
Nice flavor, but would like to lager chunks. Glad to escape the possible dangers of chemicals in canned tomatoes. It may make a difference since I use them in so often in my recipes.
The perfect solution
I try to keep my home/food as chemical-free as possible. I had been using organic tomatoes a while, but I couldn't find anything on the can about being BPA free, so I decided to switch to jars. These are not cheap in stores, but Thrive makes them much more affordable. We use tomatoes a lot, so I like that I can just reseal the jar and pop them in the fridge to use later. I buy 2 or 3 of these every time I order.
- Sarah K
Jovial brand jarred tomatoes are the freshest you will ever taste! I have used them to make my own pasta sauce, salsa, and even just plain with tortillas right out of the jar--they are so good! The freshest tomatoes next to dicing up your own right out of the garden!
FARM FRESH FLAVOR
Love the tomato sauce! It honestly tastes as good as my grandma's home canned ones! Highly recommend!
Exceptionally flavorful Italian tomatoes for authentic pasta sauces+. Been searching quality tomatoes in a glass container. Great price as well...these will be a staple.
Tastes great but diced very small
I like the taste of this and that it's in a glass jar but the tomatoes are diced considerably smaller than I'm used to from a diced tomato product. But I will keep buying it.
Fantastic to find delicious, organic tomatoes in a glass jar, especially in the winter when they're not in season on the east coast! Recipes don't always call for the pre-measured amounts that most cans contain. These can be kept in the fridge and used as needed. Now I will never be without them.
I am very happy to have found these organic diced tomatoes (with no unwanted ingredients) in a glass jar. Just what I was looking for!
Happy with purchase
Good tomatoes! Love that they come in a glass jar.
Jovial Tomato Products
It's so hard to find organic stewed and diced tomatoes in a jar, rather than a BPA lined can, but Thrive Market has made them available!
Fabulous, fresh taste
I've been searching for years for tomatoes like these. There's no added salt or sugar...just simple tomatoes. I love that these are processed in glass jars and are BPA-free. But the best part is how they taste...amazingly fresh!
First of all, this jar is figuratively bursting with flavor! These tomatoes make the perfect base for a good pasta sauce. I've also used them in goulash, they're juicy tasting and just a little sweet.
What I really love though, is that there is no salt, no citric acid, nothing but tomato and tomato paste in here! I also love that it's in a jar, not a can, so I don't have to worry about BPA! I highly recommend these diced tomatoes, these are now the only ones I'll buy!
- Gretchen O'brien
These diced tomatoes are the best! The flavor and consistency is incomparable to any other I have tried. It also includes the perfect sweetness.
Since I make a lot of pasta, I am glad this sauce is low fat. Organic is just an extra bonus! Personally, I wish the tomato chunks were much larger.

Really High Quality
These diced tomatoes are absolutely unbelievable! They taste completely real and so rich. They are bit more expensive than the generic brand but they are absolutely worth the extra cost. They're healthy and taste great. I will definitely buy again.
- Anita H
I make a lot of pasta sauces and this is often my base. I love that the tomatoes are already diced and I do not have to cut them myself. The flavor is rich, real and not to liquidy. I am also very happy that they are in cans. Sometimes tomato acid can leach negative chemicals from the can. Would buy again!
- Dolores Maldonado
loved them! just like your own tomatoes!
these tomatoes were as fresh as the ones I put up in the fall! wonderful flavor!
I can't say enough to good things.
I love the glass jar that I can reuse. I love that there is no bpa. I love how easy it is to store leftovers in the fridge by putting the lid back on" most of all, I love how it tastes. Deep and rich tomato flavor. Works just as well if not better than canned tomatoes.
Great taste and quality, so much better than canned. Used them for a beef goulash and a chicken sausage pasta sauce.
