It is packaged in a cardboard tube, like a cardboard lip balm. Because it is cardboard, the mechanism doesn't lock really, so it requires a bit of fiddling so that you do not poke yourself in the eye with a cardboard tube. I'm not sure the product is worth the packaging miss.
