Breathe in, breathe out. That’s what Aura Cacia—an essential oil and aromatherapy brand—wants to encourage you to do. Essential oil use dates back to ancient times and medicinal and aromatic herbs have been used by civilizations around the world. But it wasn’t until the 1930s when a French chemist coined the term aromatherapie to help distinguish between the medicinal benefits of plant oils and their use in perfumes. For Aura Cacia, every bottle starts by sourcing pure, authentic essential oils from farmers and suppliers in places like Ukraine, Australia, and Oregon. Inspired by the power of positive change, the brand started the Positive Change Project, which gives a portion of its profits to helping women better their lives. (In 2017, Aura Cacia donated more than $230,000 to six organizations.)

The History of Aura Cacia

Founded in 1982 in Weaverville, California, Aura Cacia started when the founders tapped into the power of essential oils in their own lives and wanted to spread the word. The company was purchased by Frontier Natural Products (another aromatherapy company) in 1993 and worked together to develop Well Earth, a sustainable sourcing program that travels the globe to find the best partners and includes in-house testing to guarantee oil purity.

Aura Cacia Company Mission

Aura Cacia’s mission is to make aromatherapy easy! The brand takes special care to use its own sustainable sourcing program and a state-of-the-art testing lab to create the purest essential oils. The resulting products are meant for anyone from EO newbies to seasoned aromatherapists to enjoy.
