The History of Bare Bones

Bare Bones was founded by Ryan and Katherine Harvey, a husband and wife team with individual histories that made them passionate about healthy living. For Ryan, it was seeing his father pass away unexpectedly at a young age. Afraid of facing the same outcome, he turned to a life of health and wellness, joined the military, and adopted a paleo diet. During culinary school, he often made stocks from scratch, which gave him the initial idea for what Bare Bones would later become.

Katherine’s journey to nutrition started at a young age when she was diagnosed with arthritis in her feet at eighteen. As a ballet dancer, she struggled to cope with the reality of never dancing again without pain. Ryan gave her a book about whole foods shortly after they met, and Katherine began experimenting with the paleo diet, which ultimately helped improve her pain. Together, they wanted to create a line of products that could nourish everyone in the family using sustainable ingredients and time-honored methods.
