The History of Biena

Poorvi is many things - the founder of Biena, a bonafide snacker, and a mother of two. She was dissatisfied with the lack of healthy snacking options that could carry her as she hustled from work and her kids’ soccer practices. Inspired by the nutrient-packed chickpeas that powered her childhood, she got to work making her own perfect take that could fill American pantries.


In 2012, she launched her first line of roasted chickpea snacks. It went from a single store outside of Boston to a widespread production, with 15,000 retail locations.
