There are Pros and Cons, but Great for a Test Kitchen Pro...

This review comes after the first attempt of using the blue and pink dye to color homemade bath salts. ColorKitchen might be the only food coloring available on Thrive Market, but I was really drawn to the non-artificial ingredients. The instructions says to add a 1/4 teaspoon of water to the powder mix, which creates a gel-like consistency. I found that this didn’t really work for my needs, but slowly added more water to get a more desired liquid consistency. Don’t be afraid to add more water, if needed or desired. I mixed the blue and pink dye in separate bowls, and added the colors to my salt mix in order to create a purple color. In retrospect, it would’ve been better to mix the two colors together in a bowl to create purple. It should also be noted that it’s much better using the ENTIRE mix, risking the fact that the end result would’ve caused a deeper shade of purple than I initially was going for; I didn’t use all of the mix, and tried saving the rest in a bottle. Not worth it. Another con would be that I wasn’t a fan of the single use plastic packets, and would’ve rather preferred a larger quantity (and wouldn’t mind a higher cost) if it came in a tiny glass bottle. That said, I’m pretty content that the waste was minimal and that the envelope was made of recyclable cardboard. If you’re looking to test and experiment with a small sample of food coloring (and non-artificial ingredients is a bonus), this would be a good bet. In that regards, I would be willing to try this item out again and would recommend this product.

I was trying to make a rainbow cake for my son but the colors in this, though real ingredients, were to muted to see some of the colors.
