Color Kitchen (5)

ColorKitchen, founded by Ashley Phelps, offers natural alternatives to synthetic colors and additives, providing safe and vibrant plant-based solutions for coloring foods.

Did you know that the European Union has restricted or banned more than 1,300 artificial additives while the U.S. has banned or restricted only 11? This might make you think twice about the safety of some of our packaged food items. The truth is that the jury is still out as to the health of most artificial ingredients (research is still underway), but many brands, like ColorKitchen, are taking matters into their own hands and offering natural alternatives to conventional artificial-based products. Learn more about how this colorful brand is working toward a brighter future.

The History of ColorKitchen

Ashley Phelps, founder of ColorKitchen, was just a young girl when she learned she had allergies to many of the chemical additives used in packaged foods. Over the years, she became increasingly aware of her diet and what went into her food. But as someone with a major sweet tooth, finding colorful, chemical-free desserts was always a challenge. It was a desire to offer a more wholesome approach to sweets and a desire to do away with artificial ingredients that prompted Phelps to launch ColorKitchen. Today, the company, headquartered in Bend, Oregon, offers a fun and playful line of healthy color solutions for enhancing cakes, cookies, and more, without artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives.

ColorKitchen Company Mission

The ultimate mission of ColorKitchen is to bring an end to the use of artificial colors in the foods we consume. ColorKitchen products were developed to offer a natural alternative to synthetic colors, with vibrant and beautiful plant-based options that decorate and color food safely.

Benefits of ColorKitchen

ColorKitchen prides itself on the purity of its ingredients and has a passion for safe, naturally sourced products that are just as effective as their chemical-based competitors. All ColorKitchen products are carefully sourced to provide the best color quality, with non-GMO, plant-based ingredients. Each item is designed to be a product you can feel good about along with being fun and easy to use. But the brand is also committed to the health and safety of its products. While more research is needed to understand the potential risks of chemical-based food colorings, ColorKitchen points to preliminary studies around synthetic food colorings and the possible link to Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) . By avoiding these ingredients entirely, ColorKitchen colorings offer consumers a little extra peace of mind.
