Gerhard and Gabi Latka (who still own Crofter’s today), founded Crofters in 1989 in Parry Sound, Ontario, a small northern commuinty in Canada. From the very beginning, Crofters had two major commitments, more nutritious foods and focus on sustainable agriculture. Long before natural and organic claims became popular, Crofters was already producing products that focused on reducing sugar content and fully committed to orgnaic agriculture.
