No more need to save half a pepper in a layer of plastic wrap. Food Huggers sell creative products that preserve your fruits and vegetables and prevent food waste, all while helping you to cut down on single-use plastic.

The History of Food Huggers

Food Huggers was founded by Michelle Ivankovic and Adrienne McNicholas, who each came into the project with over a decade of home goods industry experience. The duo launched the company in 2013 with the support of more than 5,000 people who contributed to a Kickstarter campaign. The team set out to design a product that would make preserving leftover food as easy as possible. Their initial line of lids was designed to fit on a variety of bowls, eliminating the need for plastic Tupperware or wrap.

Today, Food Huggers boasts an extended collection of products, including lids meant to be applied directly to partially used fruits and vegetables.

Food Huggers Company Mission

Food Huggers see themselves as a part of the solution to the global food and plastic crises. Food waste is a big part of the problem. About 40% of the food that’s purchased in the U.S. is thrown away. By making products that help food stay fresh, Food Huggers can cut into the number. Using their seals also means that you won’t need single-use plastic to store your food anymore.

To make the world’s most convenient food storage system, Food Huggers uses materials that work. Their tops are made with glass, rather than plastic like most Tupperware, surrounded by a silicone edge that uses their patented “flex and fold” method to attach itself to any bowl, fruit, or vegetable.
