The History of GoodSam

Founder and chief executive officer Heather K. Terry founded GoodSam in 2019 with the intention of bringing high-quality cocoa products from Colombia to the U.S. market. The brand works directly with farmers—especially those who are geographically isolated—who use regenerative practices that promote biodiversity and preserve the local region’s natural ecosystems. In an interview with Food Business News, she shares “these indigenous farmers have been practicing their way of farming for many generations. For them, it isn’t regenerative agriculture. It’s just farming. That’s lost on us as a Western audience because we tend to think we invented these things.” Although the brand started with cocoa, it now sources a variety of crops from farmers in both Colombia and Kenya, and has expanded into coffee, nuts, and baking mixes along with their signature chocolate bars.
