The History of Shameless Pets

Before starting Shameless Pets, James Bello was working as a corporate food buyer for a large retailer and saw how much food went to waste in stores every week. During dinner at home one night (and inspired by his puggle, Mina), he had the idea to rescue unused ingredients and turn them into healthy dog treats. There was only one problem: James didn’t know how to make them. Luckily, he met food scientist and dog lover Alex Waite at a startup event, and their line of superfood and grain-free treats became available nationwide in 2018.

Shameless Pets crafts upcycled treats for cats and dogs, and was one of the first pet brands to be welcomed into The Upcycled Certified Program, the world’s first third-party certification program for upcycled products and food ingredients.
