Skout Organic was founded in 2008 by Jason Pastega, a native of Portland, Oregon, with a love of all things outdoors. Pastega was on a hike with his dog, Skout, when he took a closer look at the energy bars he had been eating. The nutrition information and ingredient list were dismaying.

Inspired, Pastega began work to create his own bar in his kitchen, using only simple, organic ingredients. The result was the first Skout Organic bar. From there, Pastega took to his van, driving around town and trying to get his goods into every Portland-area food store. While Skout Organic has expanded far past its humble origins, its tireless drive and dedication to snacks made with all-natural ingredients remains unchanged.
