Why You’ll Love It

Vegan eaters can enjoy the fresh taste of the sea, too! Plant-based Toona by Sophie’s Kitchen is the perfect fish-free alternative to conventional canned tuna. Non-GMO, all-natural ingredients like Konjac root (an ancient Asian superfood), pea protein, agave, sea salt, and spices lend this veganized tuna a flavor and texture that works beautifully in tuna salads, casseroles, sandwiches, and more. Even better: Great-tasting toona is an excellent source of protein and fiber (100 grams provides 12 percent of your recommended daily value!).

About This Brand

Sophie's Kitchen

It’s not a paradox – Sophie’s Kitchen is a revolution in ready-to-eat, vegan / vegetarian plant-based food products! The current dependence on dwindling foods from the sea concerns us! We’ve taken Elephant Yam Root (Konjac, Amorphophallus konjac, pronounced Koun-jaek), that has been used across Asia for centuries, as the base for our products. The Japanese have traditionally used Konjac as a health food with a high source of fiber, and contains very few calories. We use traditional land and sea plants (such as highly nutritious seaweed) as the

Good purchase

When I first opened the can I was a bit skeptical, since the "toona" looked more like cat food. Clumpy and dark. But once I mixed it up with some veggies-making a toona salad-and tasting it, it was just right. Tastes just like tuna!

Doesn’t taste like tuna but when you’ve not had tuna for ever!! It tastes pretty good. I rinse it really well and mix it with vegan mayo and relish. Tastes pretty good.

So Gross!

This was just about the grossest food item I've ever tried. Literally looks and (probably) tastes, and smells like cat food. I still made a tuna salad sandwich with it and couldn't eat it. I took one bite and spit it out. Do NOT recommend.

Not sure why others gave a poor review. So much better texture and flavor than the other one out there. I eat it almost daily and my non vegan friends that have tried it like it also.

Not sure my cats would even eat it

I’m so bummed. I miss tuna! This had so much potential. But it was just awful. I couldn’t eat more than a spoonful. It looks and smells like cat food more than tuna. It actually doesn’t resemble tuna at all. Sad day.

2 stars for effort

Sorry, did not find it edible, looked more like wet cat food than tuna. Tasteless, or not fishy, not sure which. Threw it out.

I wanted to love this since I ate tons of tuna sandwiches before I went vegan, but I just didn’t. I would be interested in trying another flavor still but it was just okay.

My husband’s favorite!

I never ate tuna even before I became vegan years ago, but my husband absolutely loves this stuff! He doesn’t eat fish anymore either but says it reminds him of the beyond meat burgers (with a hint of seaweed taste). He wants me to stock up all the time! So I’m guessing it’s a great product if he really loves it since he’s a picky eater.

I prepared it just like I would've old school tuna with vegan mayo of course, tasted much better chilled. My omnivore boyfriend enjoyed it!
