In 2001, Amy Augustine decided to combine her love of dogs with a home-cooked recipe, and that was the beginning of Lazy Dog Cookie Co. Augustine tested her treats on the pets of friends and co-workers, and eventually applied for space at a farmers market in York, Pa. Getting up before dawn wasn’t her favorite part of the endeavor, but seeing customers embracing her products gave her the boost she needed to exhibit at a pet trade show in 2004 and begin working on the brand full-time.
