Why You’ll Love It

Red Star® Active Dry Yeast is cake yeast in a semi-dormant state. The drying process in its manufacture reduces moisture content, giving it a longer shelf life than cake yeast while retaining optimum activity. When activated, it provides ultimate baking activity in all yeast dough- low sugar to highly sweetened breads. Red Star® Active Dry Yeast is designed for yeast-leavened bread and dough. The finished product will have the particular flavor, texture and consistency associated with a yeast-leavened product.

Staying power

One of the things I really like about this yeast is that it lasts for a while. I keep it in the refrigerator so it stays fresh longer. This is one of the better bread yeasts I have tried and I like that it is from a company I can trust!

Gluten free baking

While not all baking yeasts are gluten free, this one is. When doing gluten free baking from home I've sometimes found it hard to come up with ingredients that are gluten free. I was happy when I found out such a great brand of yeast is in fact gluten free. I feel good about using it and know that I can expect the best results with such a great product.

Great for Bread

Don't have too much to say except it works. I enjoy making home-made breads with this, and I've never had a problem with the dough not rising or rising too slowly. There's easily enough dry yeast in each one of these packets to make an entire small loaf, and the packets separate easily. Thrive has them on a pretty great price too as it normally costs me twice as much at my local health foods store. Definitely will buy again.

The only yeast worth using

Red Star years has been around forever. It was the only brand my mom used and the only brand my grandma used, and it's the only brand I use. Even if I buy a bread making kit that comes with it's own yeast if it isn't Red Star I swap it out. I donate those I don't use to the local food pantry.

This yeast is perfect.

Rises Slowly

This is supposed to active dry yeast, so I expected it to rise much quicker. But it takes a few hours if you're making bread, and that's way too long.

I''m not sure if there's some ingredient that's making the wait take so long, but as a person who bakes a lot of bread, it's a bit frustrating. Other than that, it works well.

Great yeast

The best thing about this yeast is that it lasts a year, so I don't have to worry about it going bad.

It bakes my stuff well, and I've had no problems with bread rising the way some of these other yeasts work. Thrive price is great too, less than on Amazon.

Great gluten free product

I'm on a gluten restricted diet, but I don't want to give up bread and other baked goods. I use this yeast which is gluten free and also has no peanuts.

The yeast keeps fresh a long time and only activates when you open the packet, which is great. It does its job very well and I'm happy to have a gluten free product that's also affordable.

An old standby

This is great for gluten-free baking. I use it for Sunday morning cinnamon rolls and flatbreads for "pizza" and they turn out great. My husband has Celiac's but fortunately can still enjoy his favorite treats thanks to all the gluten free options around now. It's a good choice for anyone though, gluten free or not.
