Why You’ll Love It

Vegan eaters can enjoy the fresh taste of the sea, too! Plant-based, black pepper-seasoned Toona by Sophie’s Kitchen is the perfect fish-free alternative to conventional canned tuna. Non-GMO, all-natural ingredients like Konjac root (an ancient Asian superfood), pea protein, agave, and spices lend this veganized tuna a flavor and texture that works beautifully in tuna salads, casseroles, sandwiches, and more. Even better: Great-tasting toona is an excellent source of protein and fiber (100 grams provides 12 percent of your recommended daily value!).

About This Brand

It’s not a paradox – Sophie’s Kitchen is a revolution in ready-to-eat, vegan / vegetarian plant-based food products! The current dependence on dwindling foods from the sea concerns us! We’ve taken Elephant Yam Root (Konjac, Amorphophallus konjac, pronounced Koun-jaek), that has been used across Asia for centuries, as the base for our products. The Japanese have traditionally used Konjac as a health food with a high source of fiber, and contains very few calories. We use traditional land and sea plants (such as highly nutritious seaweed) as the foundation of our philosophy and our products! We created our products as a seafood alternative – a delicious and sustainable alternative to seafood from the ocean! Children (like our Sophie) of all ages enjoy the unique flavors of the ocean without being tempted to eat precious fishes!

Reviews For Black Pepper Vegan Toona

Based on 6 Reviews

Too oily

It was okay, I finished the can (lasted for 4 meals), but it was far too oily. I generally limit my oils, and I would prefer organic extra virgin olive oil if a product will use that much. I would recommend trying it, but I won't be buying it again. Thanks for the effort, though!

Love it

Makes a great addition to soups or as part of a dip recipe.

Vegan Toona

This was rather good, but did not have the taste of tuna. It also left an aftertaste, and I needed to add to it in order for it to be better. After that though, it was perfect! I would not personally say that it's the best out there, but I applaud those who created it. It takes time, and effort to create such things. There are also fewer vegan items then there should be, not giving vegans the options many others have. Those who create vegan items and awareness of them are outstanding in my eyes. I think this is a wonderful product that you will not be sorry for trying.

Delicious

I love to put this on toast. Tastes perfect!

fantastic

I use this to make toona salad for my work lunch - I can dip veggies, make a sandwich or a wrap, or throw it on top of some greens. I am going to use it to make a toona casserole next week and I am sure it will be fantastic in that as well.

Great

Tastes and looks nothing like tuna, great flavor though which is why I gave it 5 stars still. Will def be buying again.
