Reviews For Organic Tahini
Based on 2 Reviews
the BEST Tahini
This stuff is amazing! It doesn't separate quite as much as other kinds leaving you with a solid & oil. The taste is amazing, just like sesame seeds, nice and nutty, I made hummus with it & added more than I should because I liked it so much. I will definitely be purchasing this again. The price for the size is wonderful!
Very creamy and tasty. Excellent in Hummus.
Why You’ll Love Organic Tahini
Tahini is a staple in middle eastern cuisine and is a paste that is derived from sesame seeds and often used to make hummus. Although, this versatile and healthy spread can also be used in a variety of different ways: spread on pita bread, a dip for dolmas, lathered in sandwiches, and so much more.
At Thrive Market, our tahini is USDA Certified Organic and contains absolutely no additives. The sole ingredient is roasted organic sesame seeds and it just doesn’t get more pure than that. Because it’s so simple in nature, it can be used in a number of cuisines, and please different palates. Once you know about the many ways that these ground up sesame seeds can be used, you will be looking for more ways to add it into your tasty dishes.
History of tahini
Tahini is also known as sesame butter and is the product of ground sesame seeds that has been used in Lebanese, Armenian, Greek, Cypriot, Indian, Iranian, Israeli, Palestinian, Turkish, Iraqi, Levantine, North African, and Bulgarian cuisines for thousands of years. Tahini was first mentioned as an ingredient of hummus, in a recipe from a 13th-century Arab cookbook. It wasn’t until 1940 that it finally became available in the United States along with other raw nut butters.
Sesame seeds boast some serious health benefits, but it’s difficult to eat enough of them to make a difference, especially since we often use the seeds as little more than a seasoning or garnish. But crushed into a paste, we can consume it in larger amounts as a spread or dip.
Tahini is even known to be safe for most people with nut allergies, as sesame seeds don’t contain the same allergens as tree nuts. Here are a few reasons you might want to increase the amount of sesame seed in your diet:
Ways to cook with tahini
Tahini is an essential ingredient in hummus, but it can do so much more. That’s right, even if you are not into Mediterranean food, you’ll find that tahini is extraordinarily versatile and can be a staple in any kitchen, no matter your food preferences. This delicious nutritional powerhouse can be used to add some spunk to a variety of sweet and savory dishes. Here are a couple we especially love:
If you’re looking for a fresh spin on a classic recipe, Tahini Egg Salad might just be right up your alley. This dish combines avocados, roma tomatoes, radishes, lemon juice, feta cheese, eggs, and of course tahini. Just hard-boil the eggs, dice the rest of the ingredients, and combine them all, topping with the lemon juice, tahini, olive oil, and feta cheese.
Just mix together the tahini, honey, vanilla, and dates. In another bowl, throw together the oats, cinnamon, salt, baking soda, and walnuts. Fold the contents of both bowls together, and you have Tahini Date Cookie dough ready to be dropped onto a baking sheet by the spoonful. Only 10 minutes in the oven, and you will have a healthy treat that tastes oh-so good.
