Healthy snacks are definitely a thing. Especially when ingredients like sunflower seeds, almond butter, and pea protein are on the menu. Today’s snack aisles are catering more and more to customers looking to watch their sugar intake (and avoid popular additions like high-fructose corn syrup), accommodate dietary restrictions, and still satisfy cravings. It used to be that the only way to find a snack that ticked the wholesome box had to be made at home from scratch. If you’ve been following our blog for a while, you know we’re all about a DIY recipe, but we also love grab-and-go options that give us the nutrients we need.

The History of GoMacro

In 2003, GoMacro founder Amelia Kirchoff was diagnosed with breast cancer. After consulting with doctors and her family, Kirchoff decided to fight the disease by combining a macrobiotic, plant-based diet alongside traditional medical interventions. Along the way, Kirchoff and her daughter started experimenting with macrobiotic snack recipes in their Wisconsin kitchen, and officially launched the brand in 2004 by selling at local farmers’ markets. Today, Kirchoff has beat breast cancer and tends the family’s 120-acre farm. She also develops new recipes and oversees production while her daughter, Jola, runs the business side of things.

GoMacro Company Mission

GoMacro makes organic protein bars and healthy vegan snacks. From a small rural farmhouse, this family-run company hopes to spread awareness about the benefits of adopting a plant-based diet, and making lifestyle choices that help keep you active and healthy long-term. The brand works to minimize its environmental impact by working with Climate Collaborative and reducing its carbon footprint.

Benefits of GoMacro

When it comes to a wholesome snack bar, you can’t get much fresher than GoMacro. This brand uses plant-based ingredients sourced from Certified Organic and Non-GMO Certified growers, and are made without preservatives and additives. Small family farms are essential to the success of GoMacro, and the brand seeks out partners who implement sustainable practices, so you can feel good about supporting a food future that takes care to protect our natural resources. Once harvested, ingredients are cold-pressed without the use of heat, then wrapped up in eco-friendly packaging that uses post-consumer recycled materials.
