The History of Newman’s Own

By the time that Paul Newman founded Newman’s Own in 1982 he was already one of Hollywood's biggest actors. The idea of creating a food company started as an inside joke with Newman’s good friend A.E. Hotchner. Hotchner and Newman made a batch of salad dressing for their friends as a holiday gift. After receiving some positive feedback on the dressing, the two decided to officially go into business together.
