Do you know where your food comes from? If you’re mindlessly shopping at the grocery store, the answer is probably no. It’s easier to get to know purveyors at local farmers markets, where you can ask questions, meet growers face to face, and purchase produce closer to the source. But what about the weeks when you can’t make it to the market? One Degree Organic Foods is a family-run business that wanted to bridge the gap between what we know (or don’t know) about the food we eat every day, so it created a radical commitment to be completely transparent about ingredients. Keep reading to learn more about a breakfast brand you’ll love to rely on in the mornings.

The History of One Degree Organic Foods

It all started when one small family had a big idea: to promote the connection between healthy plants, healthy soil, and healthy people through a line of breakfast items that could be fully traceable online. Stan and Kathy Smith founded One Degree Organic Foods, naming their business after the concept of “six degrees of separation,” which theorizes that we’re more interconnected than we think.

One Degree Organic Foods Company Mission

When One Degree Organic Foods was founded, it made a commitment to complete ingredient transparency. The brand pitches it as equivalent to what occurs at a local farmers market. Even though you’re buying these products from a store, you can always use the brand’s QR technology to to find out which farmers contributed to the exact box in your pantry—digitally “meeting the farmers” and learning where your food comes from.
