good for camping

This was fine, both flavor and texture were alright. It reminds me more of a large couscous than a grain. We used it on a camping trip and it was perfect for that, but not something I would seek out or keep at home.

The 'Right' Rice!

Best rice substitute I've found. Very happy to be able to eat 'rice' as a side again.

To preface this review, I love rice, especially white rice. I tried this because I'm trying to incorporate more lower glycemic index products (I'm not diabetic but I have a family history of type 2.) When this came up in my recommended products, I was curious especially because how it was quite highly rated. I made it according to the package (there was a bit of water remaining at the bottom) and tasted it alone (no seasoning etc.) and it was quite frankly bad. Now, to give it the benefit of the doubt I tried some seasoning, but honestly it is nowhere near the texture of rice and kind of turns into just goop in your mouth. You would need some extreme seasoning to overpower the base taste of the "rice." That was what I did so I wouldn't have to throw out the entire batch of frankly an expensive (compared to actual white rice) replacement. I threw some furikake on it and the salt and seaweed did the trick of drowning out the favor and improved the texture some (I assume by soaking up some liquid.) But I will definitely not buy it again. Frankly, actual rice is delicious on its own without seasoning and I was hoping this would come at least marginally close. It did not and I can't recommend this as a result. I'll probably just continue to use regular rice, just infrequently.

This "rice" is not only a healthier option vs. other brands but it also tastes great! I will definitely buy this again.
