Beans are a natural agricultural product. Despite use of modern cleaning equipment, it is not always possible to remove all foreign material. Sort and rinse bean before cooking. <p> Pinto bean crops are sometimes rotated with soy bean crops which may cause cross-contamination.

Refried Beans

Posted   by Autumn from DULLES, Virginia

I love these pinto beans to make big batches of refried beans that I portion and freeze for easy weekday meals. You have to soak them or boil them, which takes planning but they are great for cooking in large batches for hosting dinner or to freeze for later. I use Ghee instead of hydrogenated oils so it's much better for our health than some of the traditional refried bean products on the market.

We love to do two. Age of these in the crockpot. Rinse and soak beans for a couple hours, then throw them in the crockpot, cover with water, wait a few hours and then mash them with salt. Tastes like refried beans, and there’s no fat!

I use these beans for refried beans and for soups. They work great in my InstantPot and cook in 40 minutes or less without soaking!
