Celebrating Black History Month With The Alaffia Foundation and Nubian Heritage

To commemorate Black History Month this February, we will be running promotions on Alaffia and Nubian Heritage products to help raise money for the organizations and communities they support.

February 1 – 15: The Alaffia Foundation

Alaffia’s mission is to achieve strong, sustainable livelihoods in West African communities by supporting local community projects, women’s cooperatives, and education. The company sources indigenous ingredients from West Africa to produce its non-GMO, fair trade certified line of body care products.

For every Alaffia product purchased from February 1 through February 15, Thrive Market will be donating 20% of sales to The Alaffia Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization that’s dedicated to empowering “African communities through the advancement of fair trade, education, sustainable living and gender equality.” They execute Alaffia Empowerment Projects in Togo, West Africa, that support fair trade producer communities.

Alaffia has agreed to match our donation so stock up on the brand’s nourishing lotions, body washes, shampoos, and conditioners during the first two weeks of the month!

February 16 – 29: Black Girls Code

From February 16 through February 29, Thrive Market will be donating 100% of sales from Nubian Heritage products to Black Girls CODE (BGC). Launched in 2011, BGC is committed to “empowering girls of color, ages 7 to 17, to become innovators in STEM fields, leaders in their communities, and builders of their own futures through exposure to computer science and technology.” Nubian Heritage will also be matching our donation to help support the next generation of coders, specifically women of color and underrepresented girls, who will be the future leaders in technology and the masters of their technological worlds.
