A Meaningful New Way To Help Others Thrive This Holiday Season [UPDATED]

As of November 30, Thrive Market members have donated $78,365 to Feeding America—that’s 862,015 meals for Feeding America! That leaves $121,635 to raise before the end of the year. Read on to find out how you can join us in giving back this holiday season!

“So many people and families don’t have the abundance to celebrate this holiday in their life,”continues Gunnar Lovelace, founder and Co-CEO of Thrive Market. “I have a lot of different types of friends. Some of them are very, very successful, and others are on food stamps. I really understand what it’s like for people, because I’ve dealt with those issues myself.”

Lovelace’s experience growing up with a single mom struggling to provide balanced meals isn’t an anomaly. One in 7 Americans turn to Feeding America food banks to help feed their households. Senior citizens make up 15 percent of the clients at food banks—but 25 percent of those who benefit from food pantries are children. In total, 46.5 million people rely on these hunger-relief organizations every year.

Lovelace knows firsthand what it’s like to live in a food-insecure home. “Growing up with a single mom who struggled financially to make healthy choices left me with a burning desire to work on scalable solutions to make healthy food accessible for everyone,” he says.

Starting November 2 and continuing through the end of the year, Thrive Market members will have the option to donate a portion of the savings from their orders to Feeding America. This incredible organization is a nationwide network of food banks that provides more than 3.7 billion meals every year.

During the holiday season, food banks around the country are stretched especially thin—and throughout the rest of the year, many local food banks struggle to support the millions of families who rely on them for meals.

In the spirit of giving back, our friend and motivational speaker Tony Robbins will match every gift through his 100 Million Meals Challenge—together, we’ve committed to raising $200,000 for Feeding America by the end of the year.

Thrive Market is also giving free memberships to hundreds of thousands of food bank clients. Feeding America volunteers will also receive free memberships as a way to say “thank you” for serving their communities.
