From Breakfast to Dessert, 3 Ways to Add More Collagen to Your Diet

Last Update: June 18, 2024

Collagen is certainly having a moment. It’s popping up in all sorts of products, and with good reason—collagen binds our connective tissues and organs, and is the most abundant protein in our bodies! Although collagen naturally declines as we age, there are a handful of ways to incorporate it into your diet so you can reap all the benefits like better sleep and improved digestion. Neocell’s Super Collagen Powder makes it easy to add a scoop of this flavorless protein to your favorite dishes—just stir well until it dissolves. You can also explore Thrive Market Collagen which can easily added to your everyday lattes or smoothies! To get you started, here are three ideas that work from breakfast to dessert.

On a waffle
Swirl collagen powder into a luscious strawberry compote topping for your waffles as a way to sneak some collagen into your breakfast.

In an iced coffee
Give your caffeine fix an extra dose of protein by stirring in a spoonful of collagen

In banana ice cream
This dessert will satisfy your taste buds—and your tissues! Here’s the recipe.

Frozen Banana Ice Cream

Yield: 2 to 3 servings
Active time: 15 minutes
Total time: 12 hours

Ingredients
4 bananas, peeled, cut into 1-inch discs
1 tablespoon Neocell Super Collagen Powder
1 to 3 tablespoons almond milk, as needed
2 tablespoons almond butter
2 tablespoon strawberry jam

Instructions
Freeze banana, at least 6 hours or up to overnight. Remove from the freezer and place frozen bananas in food processor (do not let banana defrost). Process until smooth, stopping to scrape down the sides of the bowl as needed. When you start, the mixture will appear crumbly. If the mixture is not creaming, add almond milk 1 tablespoon at a time. When smooth, add collagen and 1 tablespoon almond butter; mix until smooth. Add jam and remaining almond butter. Pulse a few times, just to swirl into banana mixture. Scoop into serving bowls and serve immediately.
