Staggering Statistic: Your Life Expectancy Is Shorter Than You Think

Last Update: March 9, 2020

When you imagine your future, do you see yourself as an 80-year-old? Thriving in your nineties? Even making it to be a spry centenarian?

That’s all well and good, but odds are, if you live in the United States, you won’t make it that long.

Life expectancy in the United States is, on average, 75.6 years for men and 80.8 years for women. That ranks 37th behind other industrialized nations.

The silver lining of this somewhat morbid stat? Research has shown that getting plenty of physical activity and eating a balanced diet can help you live longer. It’s never too late to make a change for the better!
