Why You’ll Love Organic Popcorn
Movies wouldn’t be the same without popcorn, nor would the holidays be as fun without the classic tri-colored snacking tins. No matter which way you enjoy it, popcorn is a favorite treat—and one of the healthier options when you choose a brand like Arrowhead Mills.
Each 28 oz. bag of yellow kernels is made with certified organic ingredients that are also verified by the Non-GMO Project. Just add a little cooking oil to a pot, coat the bottom with kernels, and cover with a lid; in just minutes, you’ll have a bowl of fresh, hot popcorn that tastes great on its own or dusted lightly with salt. Arrowhead Mills Organic Popcorn is gluten-free and also a great source of fiber, so dig in and enjoy!
The health benefits of popcorn
Not all popcorn is created equal. An extra large tub covered with butter and heaps of salt at the theatre comes with sides of trans fats and sodium. Even microwave popcorn is questionable since many commercial brands are loaded with mystery additives and fake flavor. But you can still get the crunchy texture and simple taste with fresh options like Arrowhead Mills Organic Popcorn.
A quarter-cup serving size has just two grams of unsaturated fat, zero cholesterol and sodium, and five grams of protein. Popcorn also naturally has polyphenols and fiber, both nutrients that benefit the body.
More about polyphenols
Polyphenols are plant compounds that act like antioxidants in fighting against the free radicals that cause cellular damage, which can lead to short-term illnesses or even chronic diseases later on as time progresses. As such, antioxidants have been proven to help lower the risk of diabetes, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer’s disease, and certain types of cancer.
More about fiber
Fiber is also a big player in maintaining optimal health. Fiber comes exclusively from plant foods and is indigestible, so it moves intact throughout the intestines, cleansing the digestive tract and also keeping bowel movements regular and consistent. Aside from digestive health, another major benefit of fiber is that it makes you feel full. While snacks like potato chips and candy bars might leave you hungry again just an hour later, snacking on a fiber-rich food like popcorn will leave you satisfied for longer. Arrowhead Mills Organic Popcorn has seven grams of fiber in each quarter-cup serving.
How to prepare Arrowhead Mills Organic Popcorn
Fresh air-popped popcorn is not only delicious, but it’s easy to make, too. And almost immediately you’ll be able to tell the difference in taste and quality. Here are seven simple steps to make the best bowl every time.
- Grab a large pot, lid, some cooking oil (we recommend coconut oil), and your bag of Arrowhead Mills Organic Popcorn.
- Add enough oil to coat the bottom of the pot with a thin layer, and then set the stovetop burner to medium heat.
- Add in the popcorn. But be cautious of how much you are using. A small amount goes a very long way since popcorn kernels expand to be nearly triple the original size. Make sure that you have an even, single layer—pouring in too many kernels means the ones at the top won’t get coated in oil and won’t pop. By creating an even layer, you’ll get thoroughly popped kernels that all cook at roughly the same time, avoiding any burned pieces.
- Cover the pot with a lid, and using oven mitts, shake it a few times to distribute the oil.
- After a few minutes you’ll hear the familiar popping sound, which will become more frequent as the pot heats up. Keep shaking it to get all the unpopped kernels to the bottom.
- Once you hear the popping slow down considerably, remove the pot from the heat and leave the lid on for about a minute for any late bloomers.
- Pour into a bowl, lightly dust with salt for extra flavor, and enjoy!
Up your popcorn game with these impressive recipes
While popcorn tastes great straight out of the bowl, it’s also tasty in these creative recipes.
Salty, sweet, savory, and spicy—this mix will be the life of the party. Fluffy popcorn is complemented by roasted cashews, fresh rosemary, and a dash of cayenne pepper, while some melted butter and brown sugar add the perfect finishing touch. It takes only 15 minutes to prep, so it’s easy to whip together even when you’re crunched on time. Great for any time of year, the zesty rosemary makes it especially nice for holiday parties.
The favorite childhood treat gets a healthy makeover by using honey instead of marshmallows and corn syrup. Almonds and almond butter also provide a wonderfully nutty taste, while fragrant vanilla extract and cinnamon add the spice. The convenient size makes them fun for movie night, but also easy to pack into school lunches. Each batch provides two dozen pieces, which can be saved and stored for up to one week.
Here’s an easy way to make tasty, gluten-free croutons: Toss popped popcorn with your favorite oil, herbs, a pinch of salt, and Parmesan cheese (or sub in nutritional yeast for a dairy-free option). Then bake on a cooking sheet until dry and golden. When ready, the toasted morsels are perfect for salads, soups, or any other dish where you’d usually use a bread-based crouton.
While trail mix is a popular pick-me-up, many traditional brands are overloaded with sugar, sodium, and unnecessary calories. Make your own healthy custom blend by combining almonds, dried cranberries, some popcorn, and a few shakes of cinnamon. Distribute into small baggies to take with you on the go for a long commute or a post-gym snack.
Craving chocolate? Instead of reaching for that candy bar, make a better-for-you snack by drizzling a bit of melted dark chocolate over popcorn and let cool. For added depth of flavor, sprinkle in some cayenne pepper, too. You’ll save yourself the empty calories and also get a good dose of fiber to keep you feeling full.

Grea tasting popcorn
Bob's red mill organic popcorn is very flavorful. It does have the hulls, but pops up nice.
I have tried a few different popcorns and I might be able to find cheaper or more gourmet but I concluded that for the price and the way it pops in my mini air popper this has been the best. Nice texture and almost no unpopped kernels, perfect.
it's popcorn,it pops does every kernel pop (no) but close to it and it's tasty too :)
This is wonderful popcorn! Make sure and store it in the refrigerator - you rarely have any unpopped kernels if it's refrigerated!
This is it!
Been tasting all around for good non-gmo popcorn, and this is the best. Pop it in coconut oil in my stainless steel whirley pop, add seasalt and melted ghee - addictive!!
Hooked on Popcorn!
I stopped buying the way too easy to make microwave popcorn once I took the time to read the label! Sodium through the roof and some stuff I didn't even recognize! So now I'm addicted to this! I bought some paper bags and put the popcorn in and right into the microwave! Comes out nice and fluffy, tastes soooo much better and is much healthier! You can choose to add what you like in portions you can control. Right now I'm not adding anything, just enjoying some "real" popcorn!
Love this popcorn. It gives really big pops of corn and is very tasty. highly recommend.
A Whole New Way To Enjoy Popcorn
so easy to make, ready in minutes and so delicious, add your own seasonings, - we tried paprika, and it's simply wonderful. And knowing that it doesn't come with any chemicals that are in microwave popcorn bags, makes it even better!
Its great tasting !
I top mine with coconut oil w/ garlic powder sea salt and cayenne powder :) its the best! ALOT for your money too!
freshest popcorn available
This popcorn pops large and is fresh -no rotten kernels like the kind you get at the grocery store or health food store. When I have purchased this same brand at the health food store its been old with lots of rotten kernels (black spot at the end that attaches to the cob - and tastes like mold) Not a single kernel is bad in the whole bag when I get it from Thrive. Its good stuff!
Kernels small and a bit soggy
I love the GMO-free option. Using avocado oil, the popcorn was tasty but many of the kernels were small and some were soggy. Flavor is good.
We have popcorn every Sunday. I understand most corn is GMO so I take comfort knowing this is not. Kernels pop nice. If I use the correct amount of oil, there's not too many unpopped.
This was the first time I bought this organic popcorn. I'm impressed! It's tasty, not dried out when popped. We make ours in a brown lunch bag in the microwave and it comes out nice every time with few unpopped kernels. Takes toppings like butter well and doesn't get soggy. Very nice product.
Its really good will order it again
Corn: Go Organic or Go Home!
If you're going to have popcorn, ya' gotta go organic. This is good stuff at a great price! Cook it stove top with coconut oil-- add Himalayan salt after popping & you are ready for movie night at home! Delish!!!!

It's the best!
I am a popcorn junkie and this is the best. I pop it right in a saucepan with either coconut oil or ghee and it has large kernels and all pop. Tastes good without adding anything else.
good popcorn:), but one bag was opened and dumped on bottom of box... called in ...promised credit ... but did not receive yet

Makes a great corn mill.
I purchased this bag of organic popcorn to make a corn mill, which turned out wonderfully! Once I had used most of the bag, the remainder wasn't large enough to make anything big so I decided to make good old popcorn.
However, that didn't have the same outcome. Most of them turned out to be chewy and hard, rather then soft and crunchy. So for now, I will just have one purpose for this particular corn.

Solid, reliable, organic popcorn
I have an old-school, stove-top, hand-crank popcorn popper that's been in my family for years. Whenever I'm feeling homesick or nostalgic, or just craving a savory snack, I pull out that bad boy and get to poppin.
I like homemade popcorn because I can whatever seasonings I want on it from my ridiculously extensive spice rack and make it taste however I want it to taste. It's so much healthier and more affordable than potato chips or crackers, and they've got a satisfying puffy-yet-crunchy texture that never disappoints.
Arrowhead Mills is a solid popcorn. It pops evenly and doesn't leave a bunch of kernels at the bottom of the pot. It produces light, airy and crisp popcorn (believe it or not, I've popped popcorn where it's still warm but tastes so stale), and it always tastes fresh.
I like popping it in garlic olive oil, putting in a little pad of butter as soon as the kernels start to pop, and topping it with a simple blend of garlic, onion, salt, and smoked paprika. Even when I go to the movies, I pop my popcorn and sneak it in the theater with me. Arrowhead Mills offers a high quality kernels at a great price, and I can always rely on it to yield a great big yummy bowl of popcorn.

Great for After Dinner Movies!
We make this popcorn after dinner when we watch movies. It pairs really well with peanut M&Ms! I love that this popcorn is organic which means that it is Monsanto free!
I use my air popper or sometimes just use the stove. It is a very healthy snack, just kind of weird packaging. I wish it sealed better after first open.

Popcorn without the calories!
We eat a generous amount of popcorn in our house so we were delighted to find this awesome product that isn't overpriced. It's everything you could hope for in a popcorn: flavorful, organic, and almost every one of the kernels actually pop! Thank you Arrowhead Mills for making yet another product we can trust and love!
- R. Gibson
Pops up fully and tastes yummy.
Pops up just fine!
I pop this corn on the stove top with just a little coconut oil and it pops up just fine, with few or no kernels left un-popped. No butter needed unless you want the extra flavor, just add a little Himalayan pink sea salt and it's good to go!
This is what it is; plain corn to make popcorn. Just remember to have the organic butter and Hemalayen salt ready! I bought this as a cheaper alternative than using the unhealthy microwave; and I'm able to flavor as I choose. Remember- a little goes a long way!

Very Tasty and it All Pops!!
Since I got my teeth fixed, I've been able to eat popcorn again! I missed it so much. I love that this Arrowhead Mills organic yellow popcorn is so tasty and it all pops! Can't beat that, well, the price comes in a close second.
The price is so low at Thrive Market, I can afford to purchase a few bags at a time. That's a good thing because in the winter, I eat much more popcorn. If your teeth are good, try this organic popcorn, you'll be glad you did!

Great source of fiber
Arrowhead mills popcorn is great. I love that it's whole grain and has no pesticides. Popcorn is a great source of fiber that helps you feel full longer.
This stuff pops up big and fluffy. It tastes good with nothing, but it tastes even better with a little sea salt.
I really like this popcorn. It is fresh and always pops wonderfully. Popcorn is one of the worst when it comes to pesticides and GMOs, so choosing organic is the only way to go.
I use my air popper so I don't have to add oil or butter of any kind. I sometimes add a little olive oil sprinkled on for some flavor, or to hold my sea salt in place.

Easy to Pop
Really good popcorn. Making it over the stovetop, I've had no problem getting most of the kernals to pop. My kids prefer to make it with an air popper, though, and it pops up just fine with that as well. For some natural toppings, we'll use organic cheese or organic olive oil. It has a more flavorful texture than most popcorn we've tried in the past.
- Richard Syslem
Popcorn is one of my favorite snacks because it is so low in calories. I was happy to find some organic popcorn through a brand I had already heard of and used in the past.
While this popcorn tastes great, I was disappointed in the amount of unpopped kernels, but that happens sometimes.
This is the perfect GF snack and I love to get creative and add things, like cinnamon or other flavors, to change up the snacking experience!
- Eva M
Not enough crunch
We bought this popcorn to use in our air popping machine. We wanted something fresh and healthier than the Trader Joe's brand, so we took a flyer on this.
Well after several tries, we've realized that these seeds just don't pop well. Some pop great, others just burn up and it's hard to tell if we'll ever get a full batch. The popcorn is also too chewy for my taste. I like a firm crunch. These don't deliver on that score.
- Adam Huston
Nice taste, low fat
Popcorn is my bag. I like it with nuts, caramel or plain. But now that I'm cutting out as much fat out of my diet as possible, I have to be more carefu
Arrowhead Mills makes these great seeds that I can pop in a pan with a cover. I use a drop of olive oil to get things going, and that's about it. Wonderful light taste and a great low-fat snack.
Movie theater quality
I used to be addicted to movie popcorn. Yep, the one slathered with diesel, greasier the better. Then I got overweight, had to cut out all the good stuff.
But I still love popcorn, and Arrowhead Mills makes the closest I've had to movie popcorn without the butter. It's all natural yellow popcorn seeds that I make with very little oil on my stovetop. I sprinkle with a dash of salt and it's like I'm back in that theater.
- Amos Hubbard
inexpensive organic popcorn
This is a much cheaper organic popcorn, since we're willing to pop it ourselves to save money. It's an economical way to eat healthy and have more control over your diet - add only the ingredients you know and love.
