January 16th, 2020

Having to give up alcohol while on the Whole30® program doesn’t mean you can’t still have fun with your beverages. Today on Prep School, Megan Mitchell shows you how to shake up some tempting mocktails to enjoy all month long.

Holiday Spiced Tea

Cozy, spicy, and zesty—basically everything you want in a kicked up brew. Peppermint tea gets spiked with allspice, cloves, and ginger, plus a dash of orange zest for sweetness.

Yield: 2 servings
Active time: 5 minutes
Total time: 10 minutes

2 cups filtered water
Juice and zest from 1 orange
5 to 6 Thrive Market Organic Whole Black Peppercorns
4 whole allspice berries
3 whole cloves
1 Thrive Market Organic Cinnamon Stick
1 (2-inch) piece ginger, peeled and thinly sliced
2 Thrive Market Organic Peppermint Tea bags
Orange slices, for serving (optional)

Add all ingredients except tea bags to a small saucepan. Bring to a boil, then reduce to simmer and add tea bags; brew 5 minutes. Remove from heat and strain liquid, discarding all spices.

To serve, pour into mugs and garnish with orange slices, if using. You can also serve this mocktail cold over ice.

Whole30 Bloody Mary Mocktail

We’ve found the drink your Whole30® brunch (or any brunch, really) has been missing. The wholesome mix is made with a host of food staples like bone broth and coconut aminos.

Yield: 2 servings
Active time: 5 minutes

For the drink:
1 (15-ounce) can Thrive Market Organic Tomato Sauce
1 celery stalk, chopped
½ cup Thrive Market Grass-Fed Beef Bone Broth
1 tablespoon olive brine
1 tablespoon Thrive Market Organic Coconut Aminos Sauce
1 teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
½ teaspoon Thrive Market Organic Ground Pepper
Crushed ice, for serving

Celery stalks
Thrive Market Organic Green Olives, Pitted
Lemon wedges

Add all drink ingredients except ice to a blender and purée until smooth. If the mixture is too thick, add broth or water 1 tablespoon at a time to loosen. Fill 2 tall glasses with crushed ice and pour Bloody Mary over the top. Pierce olives and lemon wedges with toothpicks and slide on top of the glass. Finish with a celery stalk.

Collagen Blackberry Bramble Mocktail

Collagen peptides are the star ingredient in this muddled mocktail that’s sweetened with blackberries and enhanced with mint, OJ, and lemon.

Yield: 4 servings
Active time: 5 minutes

1 pint organic blackberries
1 scoop Thrive Market Grass-Fed Collagen Peptides
4 mint sprigs
Juice from 2 oranges
Juice from 1 lemon
1 liter lime-flavored sparkling water

Add blackberries, collagen, and mint to a large pitcher; muddle using the bottom of a wooden spoon until blackberries look like a chunky purée. Add orange, lemon juice, and sparkling water; stir. Fill 4 glasses with ice and pour 1 cup bramble liquid into each glass.
