Staggering Statistic: Why You Might Want to Reconsider Skipping The Gym

Last Update: March 9, 2020

It’s no surprise that we’re facing a major health crisis in this country.

Most Americans aren’t eating enough fruits and vegetables each day, but we’re going way overboard on sugar. If we keep eating this way, in 15 years, more than half of the population will be obese. And that has drastic implications for life expectancy and rising medical costs.

Here’s another depressing piece of information to add: Just 49.2 percent of American adults over 18 meet the federal guidelines for physical activity. That means that nearly half of adults aren’t even getting two and a half hours of physical activity per week—that’s just over 20 minutes per day.

So get outside, and get moving. Those 20 minutes could be a game-changer for your health and fitness.
