Being a mother is a demanding job, but being a mother to twins makes for twice the workload. When we headed to Rhode Island to visit Roxanne, her husband, Phillip, and their twin girls, Malina and Madani, age 4, we got to see firsthand how she makes it all work — with the help of her Thrive Gives membership.
Roxanne is an Army veteran of nearly 10 years, and she’s now a full-time mom. When Roxanne and Phillip found out that their daughters have celiac disease (which causes an autoimmune reaction to eating gluten), they began their search for high-quality, affordable, gluten-free groceries, which led them to Thrive Market. “I’m super open with my girls,” Roxanne says. “I had to discuss them not being able to eat certain things by saying, If you eat this, it’s going to make you sick.”
With their Thrive Gives membership, Roxanne and Phillip are able to do all their grocery shopping at home without worrying about reading the labels on each and every item. “Having the option to click that box that says “Certified Gluten Free” puts our minds at ease,” Phillips says. They often order snacks for the kids, as well as ingredients to make healthy meals for the whole family. “I’m Puerto Rican, so I learned how to make all that food safe for the girls,” Roxanne says. “I don’t want them to miss out on their culture.”
