About Bob Moore of Bob’s Red Mill As the name suggests, Bob’s Red Mill was founded by Bob himself—Bob Moore. Just take a quick glance at any of the products and see his face right on the front. Of course, behind every great man is a great woman, and for Bob that woman is Charlee. They met in 1952 and it became apparent that both were dedicated to creating delicious, premium foods. Charlee sparked the idea for Bob’s Red Mill when she decided to create a healthier lifestyle for her family, starting with giving them natural foods like fruits, vegetables, beans, and whole grains. Eventually, twenty-six years after they met, their company was born. The history of the mill Bob had a vision for an operating flour mill that could provide healthy and nutritious food, and it wasn’t until after he and Charlee retired that they found an old mill for sale. It seemed like fate had stepped in, and Bob’s Red Mill was born in Oregon City in 1978. Although, they faced some issues in their early years—such as a fire that completely destroyed the mill only a year after opening. But they both persisted and rebuilt the mill from scratch, featuring some of the best engineering and machinery.
