Food by Nature’s Bakery is made with natural goodness. Take a look at the list of ingredients and you will be delighted to see a complete lack of questionable chemicals and additives such as high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors. In addition, everything that Nature’s Bakery produces has been verified by the esteemed Non-GMO Project and contain no ingredients have have been genetically modified. But the benefits of Nature’s Bakery products do not end at the purity of ingredients. Their food has been put through rigorous tests by independent nutritional researchers and have been verified as kosher and vegan, cholesterol-free, soy-free, dairy-free, and contain no trans fat. How Nature’s Bakery got started Inspired by the work their family has done with their Nevada based bakery, Dave and Sam Marson launched Nature’s Bakery in 2010. Richard Marson, Dave’s father and Sam’s grandfather, opened a bakery in the 1960s that was an early champion of using ingredients that were wholesome and natural. People were perplexed at first, but Richard won them over with his passion for baking healthy foods that tasted delicious. Dave Marson shared his father’s vision of making healthy food options accessible and therefore decided to make baking his profession. After several decades, Dave had become a master baker on his own, and that’s when his son Sam had a life-changing idea. The father and son duo decided to expand beyond the physical brick and mortar bakery and sell their goods to the world at large. In 2010, the Marson family launched Nature’s Bakery with a mission to make healthy on-the-go snacks mainstream. Sales have been so strong that they’ve been able to expand beyond Nevada and gain precious shelf space in major retailers across America, Canada, and Mexico. Non-GMO ingredients, what does this mean? All Nature’s Bakery products are made with non-GMO ingredients. GMO stands for genetically modified organisms, which are crops and plants that have been modified at a genetic level using various chemical compounds. GMOs are often used by farmers and manufacturers to produce food that is theoretically abundant in nutrients and resistant to parasites. The potential problem, however, is the increasing concern about the safety of GMOs in food. Leading nutritional researchers argue that genetically modified foods are contributing to poor health and diseases. More scientific studies are needed to confirm these findings but several countries around the world have banned them as a precautionary measure. Nature’s Bakery is proud to say that their food products contain no genetic modifications and are made only with pure ingredients. They’ve partnered with The Non-GMO Project, a leading collective of health experts that aim to educate consumers of the potential dangers of genetically modified food. Nature’s Bakery products are vegan. What does this mean? Simply put, vegan means that the food you’re about to consume is free of animal products and has not been tested on animals. With that said, Nature’s Bakery makes their products without any dairy, eggs, or animal ingredients. Rather, the foods they make contain ancient grains and fruits that are energizing and good for your body. Some of Nature’s Bakery products are gluten-free. What does this mean? Gluten-free means that the food or drink that you’re about to consume doesn’t have any wheat ingredients, aka gluten. Wheat is often responsible for things like the elasticity of the dough and is found in foods like bread, pizza, pasta, waffles, muffins, cereal, crackers, chips, and beer. About 3 million people in America can’t eat gluten due to gluten intolerances or celiac disease. Luckily, with more people making the transition away from wheat, more companies are making gluten-free products—some of which can even mimic the flavor and texture of gluten using rice. Most of the Nature’s Bakery products that are sold at Thrive Market are gluten-free, with the exception for two of their products, which are whole-wheat bars.
