Why You’ll Love Organic Garbanzo Beans (Chick Peas) (2-pack)
Chickpeas, garbanzo beans, or whatever you like to call them, these delicious little morsels are the foundation of hummus and also make the perfect compliment to any salad, pasta, or bowl of soup. With so many uses, Eden Foods puts their organic garbanzo beans into a convenient two-pack so you always have some on hand—which is a bonus since these little beans pack in a lot of nutrition every time you eat them, too.
Health benefits of garbanzo beans
Garbanzo beans are considered one of the world's healthiest foods, and for good reason. They are loaded with vitamins and nutrients that impact your overall well-being in a number of impressive ways.
- Digestive health: Garbanzo beans are a great source of fiber, with 20 percent of the daily recommended value in just a half cup. Fiber helps the digestive system process food and moves things along in your tract, preventing blockage and constipation.
- Less hunger pangs: The high amount of fiber in garbanzo beans is also effective in reducing appetite, making you feel satisfied for longer periods of time after eating them. This can help reduce snacking between meals and also lead to weight loss in the long-term, especially since chickpeas are also low-calorie.
- Stronger bones: A single serving of garbanzo beans will provide your body with a significant amount of iron, phosphate, magnesium, calcium, manganese, vitamin K, and zinc—which are all used to support bone structure. This can reduce the risk of bone fractures and bone-related diseases later in life.
- Heart health: The high amount of fiber, potassium, vitamin C, and vitamin B6 in each can of garbanzo beans all contribute to greater heart health. The mighty bean is also low in cholesterol, while the added fiber works to lowers the amount of cholesterol in the blood even further, which can reduce the risk of heart disease.
- More energy: Garbanzo beans are a rich source of iron (with eight percent of the daily recommended value in each serving). This essential nutrient can provide energy throughout the day and also prevent anemia and other blood disorders.
- Brain development: The folate (or B9) in garbanzo beans is an important contributor to brain health. It aids in the body's ability to grow new cells and creates effective brain cell communication networks. This is why the mineral is also recommended to pregnant women with developing fetuses.
In addition to all these notable benefits, garbanzo beans provide an excellent source of protein (seven grams are in one serving), which is ideal for vegetarians and vegans who need to find alternate sources besides meat. Protein is a necessary part of any diet because it promotes the growth and maintenance of body tissue and muscles.
Garbanzo bean recipes
After knowing how good garbanzo beans are for your health, the next step is figuring out how to best fit them into your daily diet. While they can be added into just about anything (salads, pastas, soups), these beans are also great when pureed to make dips like hummus or ground up and fried to make falafel.
Great for a fall feast, or anytime of the year, this unique blend of chickpeas and pumpkin puree only takes five minutes to make and tastes great when accompanied with nut crackers and vegetables for dipping, or even paired in a salad bowl. The only other things you’ll need to make it are tahini, garlic, lemons, olive oil, and a variety of seasonings.
Falafel sandwiches are easy to make and provide a tasty lunch or dinner. Open a can of garbanzo beans, and using a fork, smash them until they are more of a paste. Then add almond flour, tahini, coconut aminos, onion, parsley, and spices, and fry in a skillet until browned and crispy. Add into pita bread with some cucumbers and yogurt sauce to finish it off.
Creamy tomato soup makes a wonderful meal, but it’s most often made with heavy cream or milk, which is a turn-off for non-dairy eaters and those watching caloric and fat intake. There is an alternative, though: chickpeas! Yes, believe it or not, pureed chickpeas can provide a consistency similar to dairy and are also mild enough to take on the spices in the dish. To make a pot of this soup, you’ll also need vegetable stock, finely diced organic tomatoes, onion, garlic, rosemary, olive oil, salt and pepper, and some raw honey for a slightly sweet note. Eat on its own with crackers or pair with grilled cheese for a perfect combo.
Roasted garbanzo beans make for a healthy and tasty snack, especially when seasoned the right way. To make these spicy bites, open a can of Eden Foods Organic Garbanzo Beans and cover in ghee—this will help the spices stick to the surface. Then, throw on some paprika, oregano, cayenne pepper, sea salt, and garlic and onion powder, and bake for 40 minutes. You can also nix the pepper and paprika if you want a milder option. Either way, it will produce a flavorful snack you can use to replace popcorn or throw into a baggie and take with you on the go.
More about Eden Foods
Eden Foods began with a group of friends in Ann Arbor, Michigan in the 1960s who were united by an idea of sourcing natural foods. They were a pioneer in the market, beginning with a co-op and then natural food store which morphed into Eden Deli, one of the few places in the country to find a raw, macrobiotic food supply. As the brand began to take shape, a warehouse opened in 1972, which has been supplying stores and homes with dry organic foods ever since. Eden Foods tracks the environmental impact of its products with all of its local suppliers to ensure the best quality goods with the lowest carbon footprint. In 2009, they were selected as the best food company in the world by The Better World Shopping Guide.
Reviews For Organic Garbanzo Beans (Chick Peas) (2-pack)

A pantry staple
Garbanzo beans are a staple in my home. I make hummus at home every week to have as a snack or add to salads to protein. I like this brand for its natural nutty flavor and moisture. I have had other brands where the garbanzo beans have been dry.
Handy healthy quick snack
I like to use these for a quick but healthy hummus that doesn't contain all the fat and salt of store bought hummus. Just grind it with some garlic and other spices and some lemon juice a just a tiny bit of olive oil. It takes just minutes and is so much better than the heavy salty hummus that is sold in stores.
The only canned Garbanzo beans I'll Buy!
Garbanzo beans are incredibly versatile, and I eat them almost daily. Since I eat them so much, I'm very particular about the quality. When I first tried these, I was alarmed to find little dark brown specks floating around in the water. I then realized that these were the Kombu (seaweed) added to preserve them. Now I just eat it along with the beans.
I love that these are organic and GMO-free! They even come in a BPA-free can, which is great when you live in a hot place like me. These Garbanzo beans are the perfect texture, and there's no salt added. These are the best canned Garbanzo beans I've tried, and I don't think I'll ever buy another brand!

Fresh, versatile and BPA-free!
Eden's garbanzos are superb. Perfect for blending into some homemade hummus. My personal favorite is a sausage and kale skillet. The recipe itself is cheap, easy, and super delicious. It's just sausage, kale, garbanzo beans, marinara, and mozzarella. It sounds weird, but it's actually really tasty, nutritious, and filling. I make this at least once per week so I always have some garbanzo beans on hand, and Eden's are the best by far. I used to soak my own beans, but since Eden's cans are BPA-free and they don't salt the water, it's exactly what I've been looking for. They're a nice source of protein and nutrients, and you can roast them in the oven for a healthy, savory snack! Thrive offers them for the best price I've seen so far so I'll be getting them here from now on.

Excellent and BPA free
This brand has great quality beans. I like using the garbanzo beans in soups, salads, and it makes for great hummus. It also comes in a BPA-free can which is good and safe for kids as well as pregnant women!

I used this can to make Hummus just like many other members have. I was easily able to put them into my food processor and the rest is history! When I make mixed green salads, I also put them cold on top and sometimes mix them into warm quinoa salads too! Plus side, the can is BPA Free!
My only buyers remorse was not buying enough. I wish they sold them in larger quantities or in cartons. It would also save me on shipping.

I made hummus with a can of these the other day and it was delicious!
I love that this brand soaks their beans before canning them - apparently the only brand that does so. I also love that the cans are BPA-free. Don't be concerned if you notice some green/brown specks at the bottom of the container or on your beans...I freaked out at first and thought it was mold, but it's just the seaweed they use to package/preserve it.
Thrive's price cuts continue to amaze me. I get two of these for four dollars, and they are all natural beans, big, hearty, full of grainy flavor and perfect for straight out of the can eating or on salads or inside a burrito. They are made from organic chick peas, no salt, very little sugar and no fat or added cholesterol. Packed with protein and goodness.

Perfect Organic Solution
These taste delicious, but I'll be honest and say I can't taste much of a difference between organic and non-organic. I love knowing that I'm aware that it's a healthier food without all of the pesticides, though, and since buying off Thrive means that the price difference isn't all that much, I'll be sticking to organic from now on. These also don't have any added sodium, so they're really impressive.

So, So good
I absolutely love Garbanzo beans. I didn't think there was any way that I would like one over another, but I found out I was wrong. I have found my absolute favorites in this brand. They taste great, I like to eat them by themselves, but they are also one of my favorite soup ingredients and salad toppers. They are also very affordable. I normally pay this price for one can of beans where I live, so to find them two for the same price is great!
- Samantha Louise
perfect addition to any dish
Eden organic always provides the natural stuff and these beans are a perfect addition to any dish to complete meal. I use these beans in salads and soups and even to make hummus as they are perfectly well done but not broken and crushed. These beans are a high fiber and low salt diet and very good for people who suffer from high cholesterol and blood pressure. I use these beans to make up healthy meals that are good for all family members.

Delicious and no BPA!
These beans are twice the size of another brand of organic beans I bought at the store, with no BPA, as a bonus. These are the best tasting and most healthful garbanzos on the market.
I love Eden Organics, and these chickpeas are no exception. They're good quality beans with a good texture (nut mush), and the cans are BPA-free! I like roasting them with garlic salt, or just eating them right out of the can as a snack.
