Why You’ll Love Lavender Hand Sanitizer
Looking for a natural way to keep hands free of germs? This lavender hand sanitizer is the answer to your prayers. Free of many of the suspicious chemicals that commercial hand sanitizers use, EO Lavender Hand Sanitizing is a plant-based alternative that delivers softness and an invigorating scent through lavender and jojoba essential oils.
Why hand sanitizers matter
There are plenty of instances when you need germ-free hands but aren’t able to get to a sink in time. Luckily, that’s why hand sanitizers were invented and they have withstood the test of time. This mixture of ingredients kills germs through alcohol, immediately nixing the presence of bacteria and viruses while keeping hands moist with their hydrating oils.
Because they’re so portable and convenient, they have been credited with stopping the spread of bacteria in several key situations. For example, research has shown that the risk of spreading stomach and respiratory infection is lowered for families who use hand sanitizers. Other studies show that putting hand sanitizers in classrooms could actually reduce the amount of illnesses students contract during the school year by 20 percent!
What’s in this hand sanitizer?
This hand sanitizer stands apart from many others due to its unique combination of organic ethanol, vegetable glycerin, along with lavender and jojoba essential oils. The ethanol is kept to a minimum to reduce dryness, yet is still powerful against germs. The vegetable glycerin helps keep hands moist and soft, and the lavender and jojoba oils add a nice, non-greasy moisture. Additionally, this product is totally organic, which makes it a more responsible choice for people and the environment.
It’s hard to make an effective hand sanitizer without alcohol, and this product uses only 65 percent, which is just enough to make it effective. What’s great about this type of ethanol is that it’s organic, meaning it was not made with genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
Organic alcohol production is also better for the environment, as it avoids using substances that can harm the soil. It also doesn’t leave behind pollutants when being made since it is produced without pesticides and fertilizers. These are chemicals people shouldn’t have near their skin, especially since research shows that consistent exposure to them can potentially increase the risk of cancer.
Vegetable glycerin, otherwise known as glycerol, is translucent, odorless liquid made from plant oils. It is often found in soaps and beauty products, and even hand sanitizers, The reason it’s in these items is because it functions as a humectant, which is a liquid that pulls moisture to the skin and keeps it soft and hydrated. Vegetable glycerin is also helpful in getting the skin to absorb whatever is being putting on it—such as a moisturizer or fragrance. Since it’s in this hand sanitizer, it ensures that the bacteria-killing ethanol and softening oils are going to soak right in and not rub off.
Lavender essential oil
As its name indicates, this hand sanitizer uses lavender essential oil as one of its main ingredients. In addition to the hydrating nature of this oil, its unique herbal scent has many other benefits.
To provide some context, the scent of lavender has some serious mood-boosting history. It’s been used for centuries as a form of aromatherapy to relieve exhaustion, insomnia, irritability, and even depression. Its scent is so invigorating, the Victorians even put it into muslin bags for wardrobes so the scent would catch on their clothes, and would also use it as a perfume and potpourri.
Lavender oil has also been known to relieve muscle pain (that’s why it’s seen in a number of bath bombs), migraines and headaches. Given all this evidence, it makes sense that when it was tested by aromatherapy researchers, lavender was found to be particularly powerful for calming one’s brain waves and relieving stress. Studies also show that its relaxing properties can be put to good use in professional environments: researchers found that in some instances, the scent helped employees to focus so much that they made 25 percent fewer computer errors than without the smell.
Now this is where serious moisturizing capabilities come into play for EO Lavender Hand Sanitizer. Jojoba oil is a soothing, healing and moisturizing substance, and has been used by Native Americans for centuries to treat skin wounds. Produced from the jojoba shrub that is native to the American Southwest and northern Mexico, the oil is uniquely effective because its consistency is quite similar to the natural oils our bodies produce.
Here are some ways jojoba oil is beneficial for skin:
- It’s going to boost the effectiveness of hand sanitizer because it has its own antibacterial properties. Jojoba oil was used in old medicinal practices to treat skin infections and wounds.
- It’s a strong anti-inflammatory agent. Jojoba oil does a great job of controlling swelling and redness.
- It will keep skin protected and moist. Jojoba oil is easily absorbed and is nourishing to the skin. It also smells nice, and doesn’t leave a greasy residue.
- It can help with acne. Because of its antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, jojoba oil is a miracle worker for pimples. It keeps pores from getting infected, and when blemishes do arise, the jojoba oil keeps the swelling and redness at bay.

lavender hand sanitizer
great smell! not sticky or slimy. I will get it again.
the sense is a bit strong for my preference and for a few seconds after applying the product my hands feel sticky but overall its an ok product, rather use antibacterial wipes.
I love this product before I give a full body massage I use this to sanitize my hands and it has a delightful sent lavender to instantly calm the senses
This stuff feels and smells so good! I hate using antibacterial sanitizer so using this sanitizer gives me peace!
This stuff smells amazing. Makes me feel calm. I have it on my desk at work.
Will be a returning customer!
In my profession I am repeatedly using hand sanitizer and this stuff leaves my hands soft without any drying, plus I am ALWAYS getting asked what smells so good after I put it on. Additionally, Thrive Market has it listed cheaper even when it is on sale at the chain store.
What's that smell?
I had very high hopes because I love the company, but the smell of lavender was much too pungent, as well was the smell of the base liquid (like rubbing alcohol). After several tries to like it, one of my students walked by and said, "Yuk, where's the glue?!" That confirmed it for me. I gave the product to a colleague who didn't mind the smell. Sorry. Not for me.
Not like most hand sanitizers, this one leaves your hands feeling as if you just used lotion. The lavender fragrance, an added bonus, is especially relaxing when needed.
Love this hand sanitizer!!
Great smell and leaves my hands feeling clean and not at all sticky like Dr. Bronner's sanitizer did. Love it!
This products has ingredients that I am comfortable using to sanitize. And the lavender fragrance is strong but very pleasant also.
