About This Brand

When most people think of gelatin, they think of those tiny cups in your lunchbag or molds of a gooey-like substance that tastes vaguely of fruit. Although, gelatin is capable of so much more than being just a jiggly, artificially flavored and colored snack. Gelatin can be used to improve your skin by making it smoother and help to conceal scars while giving your hair a decadently luxurious glow. If used properly with a balanced and sensible diet, gelatin can be also be quite healthy as leading nutritional researchers have found that it’s an excellent source of protein and the calcium. Great Lakes Gelatin long ago realized the potentially immense health benefits of their products and is at the forefront of modern aspic—a dish in which ingredients are set into a gelatin made from a meat stock or consommé. How Great Lakes Gelatin got started 1988—Great Lakes Gelatin launched in Grayslake, a small working-class suburb a few miles north of Chicago. But that is only a...

Good Stuff

I enjoy this product and my gut does too. It mixes well in warm fluids. I mix 1/2-3/4 tbsp. into a cup of bone broth every few days. The one knock I give this product, or the entire collegen/bone broth line is the smell. After drinking this product it leaves an awful raw animal smell. Most certainly will make a dishwasher smell bad too. I recommend rinsing thoroughly after consuming.

Porcined Gelatin

This was an excellent purchase, very reasonable and a not too easy to find item. I have been using this for years for joint pain prevention and general health.

Great for the joints and the belly

I add the Great Lakes Gelatin to my tea, to warm almond milk with a dash of Pumpkin pie spice and to my green drink for protein and a joint assisting fun. Some days I simply let it gel in my cup and eat it like any gelatin. Tasty and good for holding any food together in a formed mixture. Even my dog likes it.

Great price

I have had the product before but at a higher price. I was given a free bone broth liquid sample that broke and spilled into the box. That is my only complaint.

Porcine Gelatin

I'm glad I purchased this product. I have been adding it to my morning shakes and smoothies. It blends easily without clumping. I believe it is helping my joints and bones.

Cool to experiment with, benefits notwithstanding! There is a bit of a funky smell when you first mix it into things, but that fades quickly.

For Dog & Me

No noticeable difference in flavor or effectiveness between the porcine and beef gelatin. I use this to make homemade gummy treats and also sprinkle it on my dog's food as a supplement.

Excellent Gelatin! Pantry staple!

I have been wanting to try this product for a long time and I'm excited that Thrive Market carries it at a great discount, especially if we ended up not loving it. Luckily we loved it! I have used it mainly for my smoothies, adding the extra nutritional punch and protein I need to start my day off right. I have tossed it right on top of my cold ingredients and it blends right up without clumping. This gelatin gives my smoothies a super silky texture and keeps it nice and thick, even 2-3 hours after I have made it and kept it in the fridge. I can't wait to try it in other recipes to fortify my next meal!
