Why You’ll Love It

Redmond Clay is an all natural bentonite healing clay that has been used for generations. Geologists tell us Redmond Clay is volcanic ash that was deposited in sea water long ago, where it would develop into a swelling-type sodium bentonite clay. Redmond Trading brings this “clay of a thousand uses” to market in its natural state with no additives, chemicals or preservatives.

About This Brand

Redmond’s story begins in 1958, when a prolonged drought forced two brothers to abandon their farm in central Utah. Aware that Native Americans had once harvested salt rock from their farmland, Milo and Lamar Bosshardt borrowed a little money and went into the salt business with little more than sledgehammers, picks, and a determination to provide for their families. Great Consistency

I bought this as the main ingredient to make a water-based toothpaste. With any new brand or recipe, it takes some time getting used to the difference of a previously used toothpaste. While it may taste nasty to me right now (typically because of level of saltiness from baking soda and salt), the consistency is so, so much better than with the simplified recipe of using coconut oil. Even after only brushing with bentonite clay twice! I have yet to test to see if this will clog my drain less than the coconut oil, but as this recipe is water-based, I am hoping it’ll flow down the drain much more smoothly.
