When we published our 2019 Impact Report last spring, we set some ambitious goals for ourselves: attaining B Corp certification, cutting back on waste, continuing to champion regenerative agriculture, and making progress on recyclable packaging—all while continuing to do the work we’ve been doing since day one to democratize healthy living.
Although 2020 was a uniquely challenging year, we’re proud to say we made a lot of progress toward those goals, thanks in no small part to the strength and solidarity of our one-million-member community. Together with our members, we raised over $1 million in healthy groceries for people affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, sent food and other essentials to thousands of families in need, and leveled up our commitment to food equality. We added hundreds of innovative, high-quality healthy products to our digital shelves, including 47 new regeneratively grown items. We continued to ship each and every delivery box with a carbon-neutral footprint and using recyclable materials. Amidst it all, we checked off one of the biggest items on last year’s to-do list by becoming a certified B Corporation.
Though a lot of progress was made in 2020, we’re the first to say that we still have work to do. Next up? Taking urgent and imperative climate action to secure a healthy future for our planet. In addition to celebrating our achievements, the Thrive Market 2020 Impact Report explores our renewed commitment to the environment in depth, including our path to becoming the world’s first climate-positive grocery store.

American families that received support from our COVID-19 Relief Fund, which provided healthy groceries and essentials for people most affected by the pandemic (including 700 first responders).
Dollars donated in support of Black lives and ending systemic racism. In the aftermath of the police brutality protests last summer, Thrive Market founders personally donated $50,000 toward racial justice organizations, and the company matched employee donations two to one.
Number of BIPOC-Owned brands currently available on ThriveMarket.com. Newly added in 2020, this shopping value allows us to amplify and support BIPOC-Owned businesses.
New products added to our exclusive selection of Thrive Market pantry staples and premium proteins in 2020. We quite literally travel the globe to ensure that Thrive Market Goods products are sourced using fair and safe labor practices, that farmers and workers are paid living wages, and that local communities benefit from partnering with us.
The increase over market price earned by the Peruvian farmers who grow our regenerative organic coffee (per 100 pounds of beans).
The number of lenga beech trees planted by our beef partner in Patagonia, Chile last year to help offset their carbon emissions.
The amount by which our carbon emissions caused by employees commuting to our Los Angeles headquarters fell in 2020, with office staff working remotely.
The number of new non-GMO products added to our catalog in 2020, further solidifying our status as the largest GMO-free retailer in the country.
