You could say this drink is dressed to impress—with five stunning layers of smoothie blends, chia pudding, and berry mash. And with flavors ranging from earthy beet to tart blueberry to butterscotch-esque maca, it tastes as good as it looks.
Note: Follow the order below to keep it simple and wash the blender as you go!
Layered Berry Smoothie
Yield: 2 to 4 servings
Active Time: 10 minutes
For the raspberry-beet smoothie 1 peeled beet, quartered 1/2 cup raspberries 1 pitted date 1 (1-inch) piece ginger, peeled 1 cup ice 1/2 cup nondairy milk (almond, coconut, hemp)
Make the raspberry-beet smoothie
Combine all ingredients in a high-powered blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour smoothie into a small bowl and set aside. Wash the blender.
Make the chia pudding
Combine all ingredients in a small bowl and set aside.
Make the mixed berry mash
Place the mixed berries in a small bowl and mash with a fork. Set aside.
Make the blueberry-spinach smoothie
Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until smooth. Pour smoothie into a small bowl and set aside. Wash the blender once more.
Make the strawberry-maca smoothie
Place all ingredients in blender and blend on high until smooth.
Assemble the layered smoothie Now add the layers one at a time, divvied between 2 large or 4 small glasses. First, scoop raspberry-beet smoothie into the bottom of the glasses. Next, add the berry mash, chia pudding, and blueberry-spinach smoothie, and finish with the strawberry-maca smoothie on top. Serve immediately.
