Practical jokers have plenty of tools in their arsenals—whoopee cushions, rubber chickens, exploding cigars, and of course, the classic banana peel.
Many an unsuspecting victim has been felled by a well-placed banana peel. But the skin of this popular fruit has another surprising household use. The inside of a banana peel is perfect for shining shoes—specifically leather, faux leather, or any pair you'd usually use conventional polish on. It might sound a little gross, but bear with us on this one.
First, peel the banana, and rub the inside of the peel all over the exterior of your shoes. Then use a soft cloth to buff away any leftover banana bits and voila. Your shoes will be left perfectly conditioned and gleaming. Of course, you should also eat the fruit itself—your body will thank you for the potassium.
