The History of Sovereign Silver

In the 1960s, Stephen L. Quinto was searching for chlorine alternatives to clean his swimming pool. After hours of research, he discovered silver and copper ion generators, which did double duty to keep his pool free from algae, but also maintain a consistent temperature of 88°F. Then, in 1997, a colleague of Quinto’s passed along some new research on colloidal silver, and that’s when Quinto realized the reason his pool water stayed so pure over the years. At the time, colloidal silver was being used in the medical field, but it certainly wasn’t mainstream, and Quinto was interested in exploring whether he could isolate silver into small enough particles that they’d be indistinguishable under a microscope—what would have been a breakthrough discovery at the time. When he found a way, Quinto sent his research to university professors who confirmed the results, and in 1998, Natural Immunogenics Corp. was founded in Miami. The Sovereign Silver brand was introduced to the U.S. in 1999.
