Why You’ll Love Avocado Oil
Next time you’re in the kitchen, instead of reaching for butter or margarine, try something different: Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil. This savory cooking ingredient is full of healthy fats and is infinitely versatile, whether it’s used for sauteing some of your favorite vegetables or for baking a batch of sweets for the kids. It has a soft, nutty flavor and just a hint of avocado, so you can easily incorporate it into baked goods or use it for fish, grilled veggies, and salads.
The smoke point of Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
Cooking oils of all types each have their own chemical makeup, which produces individual smoke points. This is the temperature at which an oil will start to smoke, producing toxic fumes and harmful free radicals—all the bad things you obviously want to avoid in the kitchen.
While some oils like sunflower or flaxseed oil have low smoke points (about 250 degrees), the great thing about Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil is that its ratio of fats produces a very high smoke point of about 400 degrees Fahrenheit. So, it’s the perfect solution for searing meat or any other application that requires a high temperature, yet it can also be a wonderful item for low temperature cooking as well.
The health benefits of avocado oil
Avocado oil is a healthy ingredient with a lot of versatility and even bigger nutritional content. Although years of misinformation led us to collectively assume that fats are a bad thing, avocados actually have the healthy fats that a body needs to function and thrive. Plus, there’s the rich, mouthwatering flavor. In addition to these benefits, avocado oil also offers:
- Lots of omega-3 fatty acids. Avocados are deliciously rich in omega-3 fatty acids—the ones that reduce inflammation, which (if kept unchecked) can lead to chronic illness over time. The monounsaturated fat content in avocados also works to reduce the “bad” cholesterol, also known as LDL cholesterol, which can lead to clogged arteries, strokes, and cardiovascular disease. These compounds can also help bring down high blood pressure and ease symptoms of arthritis and depression.
- Numerous nutrients. Of any oil on the market today, avocado oil has the highest concentration of monounsaturated fats, potassium, and vitamins A, E, and D. These are all vital for a healthy, well-balanced diet, leading to better skin and eye health, energy, and bone support. Additionally, when you consume avocados along with other fresh fruits and vegetables, it will help to improve the absorption of the other nutrients you eat, too.
- Antioxidant power. By nature, avocados are rich in antioxidants and beta-sitosterol, both of which have been shown to reduce the risk of developing certain kinds of cancer and heart disease. Beta-sitosterol inhibits cell division, so by nature it can actually prevent cancerous cells from forming. Antioxidants are also useful in fighting against general oxidization inside the body, which can cause other chronic illnesses over time.
- Carotenoid support. Carotenoids such as zeaxanthin and lutein are present in avocados—both are associated with keeping bones healthy and minimizing the risk of cartilage defects, a symptom that could lead to osteoarthritis later in life. Other essential minerals in avocados, like zinc, phosphorous, copper, calcium, and selenium are all also connected to lower chances of osteoporosis and improved bone mineral density.
- A good dose of potassium. Avocados contain a high level of potassium, a helpful mineral that is vital to maintaining a normal heart rate and improving kidney health. By consuming the right amount of the fruit on a regular basis, you’ll be able to maintain a balance of minerals and fluids in the kidney.
Cooking with Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
You can sub in Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil in any recipe that calls for olive oil or coconut oil (or butter or margarine), use it to heat up foods in a frying pan, or even drizzle atop items you place on the grill—the possibilities are truly endless. Here are a few of Thrive Market’s favorite ways to enjoy this versatile ingredient.
It’s the latest breakfast craze: avocado toast. And making it is easy. This recipe calls for traditional Japanese infusion with coconut aminos, toasted nori, and sesame seeds. Simply toast a slice of multigrain bread, brush with avocado oil and aminos, and then lay avocado pieces in a line on top. Season with lemon juice, orange zest, cayenne pepper, and seeds. The result is a nutrient-packed powerhouse that will keep you satisfied until lunch.
Avocado oil is also a great way to make a unique and healthy dressing. This dish grills fresh romaine hearts, and then tops the leaves with hard-boiled eggs, grated Parmesan cheese, and a dressing made from avocado, cilantro, limes, sea salt, onion powder, and cayenne pepper. Replace the olive oil with avocado oil for more impactful flavor.
Skip the regular hummus and go for something a little more exotic with this Red Pepper Walnut Dip. It infuses the tangy flavors of muhammara, a traditional Syrian dip made from vibrant red bell peppers, tomato paste, and smooth, hearty walnuts. Instead of olive oil, apply the same amount of Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil to the mix for an even creamier version that you can use for so much more than just chips and fresh veggies—try it as a sandwich spread or as a sauce on top of roasted meats, too. The bright, refreshing flavors can take any meal to the next level.
Get restaurant-quality dinner right in the comfort of your own home with this savory dish that comes together in under an hour. Roasted vegetables, including beets and fennel, are topped with incredibly delicious fillets of honey mustard–glazed salmon. You can also substitute any vegetables that you’d prefer, such as carrots, onions, or even some red potatoes—and use Primal Kitchen Avocado OIl in place of olive oil for extra flavor.

love this oil and use it for cooking instead of olive oil
Excellent for cooking
I love using this in place of olive oil for cooking due to the higher smoke point. I always have a back-up bottle ready to go when one runs out!
LOVE IT, although expensive, only use small amount
LOVE IT, although expensive, only use small amount, such an easy way to get the great oil of avocados and I don't like avocados.
I love using avocado oil for cooking. Very light, no strong flavor and easy to cook with.
Good for frying
Pretty flavorless for traditional frying flavor.
Nice cooking oil
Using this for sautéing greens and making eggs. Essentially without flavor. Very nice. Will be adding it to my shopping list.
Lighter than I thought it would be
...and that's a good thing. It was a free gift and I wasn't sure I wanted it. I Will Be Buying This Again.
A new favorite!
Received free with my latest order but definitely will pay for a bottle when this one runs out. Great as a salad dressing and marinade ingredient. Have not tried for cooking yet but bottle says good for high heat use. Maybe the next use will be when my husband makes his wonderful stir fry. That is one way everyone at my house will eat their veggies.

A GREAT change of nutritious oil from time to time,,,
Your Skin Will Thank You
I personally don't put this in my mouth, but use it for cosmetic purposes. It makes a terrific skin oil.
Great Alternative to Olive Oil
I've just recently become a user of Avocado oil. I received it as a gift from Thrive Market when I placed a previous order. I was very pleasantly surprised.
Olive oil can sometimes have a distinctive taste profile that doesn't sync well with certain dishes. I like the fact that the taste of the Avocado oil is rather neutral and that I can use it in just about anything. This Avocado oil is now one of my "go to" oils and is now a staple in my kitchen.
I really love this oil and use it for everything. I prefer it over olive oil for cooking.
Love this oil!
This is the only good tasting oil that doesn't make food stick in the frying pan.. Love eating an egg every morning that I don't have to scrape off the pan now
This is the only avocado oil I use. I've purchased other organic avocado oils, but they have a very unpleasant aftertaste. I've been using it to cook just about everything, and especially love the high smoke point.
Great All Purpose Oil
I started using avocado oil to cook with, since I found out it's more stable over high heats than olive oil. This has a clean flavor that doesn't distract from the other foods you are cooking. And it's great on salad, too!
Excellent product. Found out I'm reactive to olive oil, nice replacement! Very, very mild flavor, high heat safe. Use it in all my cooking, salad dressings, mayo, bbq sauce. Blends very well.
Not my favorite for mayo
A good light-tasting oil, but I haven't found a particular food I like for it. I bought it specifically to make mayo, but I find the taste too overpowering. On to another oil for mayo from now on.
Love this oil.
This avocado oil is delicious. So far I have loved all the products from Thrive Market. So glad they are available.
Love this oil!
This oil is so light and easy to use. Has a mild flavor. It makes a great mayonnaise!!
- Betty R
Avocado oil is great
Excellent product, works fine with high heat point and is quite nutritious.
Great oil/exceptional price
You can't beat the quality or the price of this oil.
It's SO good!
I received this as a free gift on an order a while back and I LOVE cooking with it. It's especially delicious when you saute vegetables in it. It's now an item I keep on my kitchen counter and don't allow to run out!
I love cooking with this oil.
Great value for the price
Really enjoy this oil. Nice to have another option for experimenting with recipes. Has a wonderful light taste.
I recently began cooking with avocado oil because of its high heat capacity. This brand is lovely to cook with and food tastes amazing.
- Kim V
This avocado oil is good, but is not green like other avocado oils, which is a feature I like. The taste is mild and goes with raw or cooked veggies.
I use this for all recipes that call for cooking oil. Even when baking my muffins! Stocking up now!!
Very nice flavor avocado oil at a good price.
Saw it and just had to try it...
Yummy for veggies, in a salad as dressing, cooking eggs etc...new to this product and glad I tried it...new pantry staple for me...little pricey though...(still cheaper here than at other health food stores)
Awesome cooking oil
I use this oil in place of olive oil now. I love it. It gives on the slightest nutty flavor. It's give my fish, eggs , veg a richer flavor when sautéing. I also use a a dressing or finishing oil on salads etc...
Great oil for homemade mayonnaise, especially if you don't care for the more prominent taste of olive oil.
This brand was my introduction to Avacado Oil and it is wonderful. I love it with minced garlic for bread dipping even better than olive oil. I use it for cooking and salad dressing as well. It has become a staple in my kitchen.
a must have for your kitchen
I got this as a promo from Thrive. And now I'm hooked. It's great for cooking and on salads. I'm sure there is more I can do with this but haven't discovered it because we go through it so fast in my house.
Best oil out there
At first I couldn't really tell the difference between this and olive oil, but after I used my first bottle, I went back to olive oil and noticed how different my food tasted. Maybe it's all in my head but my food feels lighter when I use this oil. I had to go back and buy several more simply because I love the way my food turns out.
Primal Kitchen is the best at making delicious mayos and dressings with this avocado oil! Seriously this is a staple in my home. I use this & coconut oil all the time. Great for high heat cooking!
Our favorite oil
We love this in our homemade salad dressings. We also like it with herbs for a dipping oil and just drizzled on roasted veggies and pasta.
I love to drizzle this oil over asparagus before I grill it..imparts a nice nutty flavor. It is also great as a steak marinade. I also use it to season my cast iron pans as it can really take high heat. I highly recommend this.
I use it in all my cooking in place of olive oil, it tastes great and I love that it's a high heat oil.
I love how big the bottle is and that its glass and tastes great on anything!
Very Happy with this High Heat oil
I use it for a lot of cooking. It is difficult to find healthy oils and this is now a staple at home.
I haven't used much olive oil yet, but I like this one.
This is very nice! Used it last weekend to cook my eggs. Very tasty!
Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
Well, we're on our second bottle. It is wonderful.
Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
It was great to have this to saute some vegetables in and didn't have to be concerned with too high of a temperature.
It's good for sautéing and good as an oil to drizzle on pasta. Has a light pleasant flavor.
Excellent for coating meat before grilling, great drizzled over fresh produce, like tomatoes. I just love it!
Delicious and excellent for cooking
This oil has a mild taste and flavor that is just right for salads or cooking. Since it doesn't break down easily, it is perfect for cooking. I use it instead of olive oil now. Delicious, healthy and just the right taste.
We love this oil. Daughter uses it instead of olive oil in her homemade salad dressings & it is great! Son in Law says he could just drink it right out of the bottle.
This has turned out to be my go to oil for salad dressing, a nice alternative to olive oil. It has a nice light taste so it doesn't overpower in my recipes.
Primal Kitchen Avocado Oil
Great for grilling/frying as well as for salad use. Whole30 compliant is a plus!

Tasty and Worth the Price
I generally use olive or coconut oil, but decided to give avocado a chance and I'm glad I did. I just received this yesterday and have used it to cook veggies and salmon. This oil has a nice subtle flavor. I'll definitely buy again.
Another fun pantry addition. Mild flavor. I doubt anyone would find it offensive to the taste. Using in dressings and cooking vegetables.
Love this oil!
This avocado oil is delicious! It's always a good thing when you find some good for that tastes good too! It is several dollars less on Thrive than at the stores out in town.
This is such a great product. Healthy fat content even when used for higher heat cooking, but it tastes so good I just drizzle it on my salads and veggies. I like the flavor better than olive oil!
It's a little too soon to give a review. I have not used it enough to really know how I like it. The few times I have used it have been fine. It really has no flavor.
- Judy Hammock
I love using this oil to roast veggies and fry eggs. It gets everything perfectly crispy and has a wonderful, rich flavor. The price is excellent for the size. I will be purchasing this again.
A fabulous oil that I can use on high heat! Slight nutty flavor, which I love.
I got this item as a free addition to my cart, and I am so glad I did! I used it the first time for my scrambled eggs, and they had just the lightest hint of avocado, and my mouth was so happy!
Soft and smooth
First taste was right out of the bottle. Mmmmm. Second was for cooking my morning eggs and hash browns. Mmmmm again. Soft and smooth flavor. Will be ordering more, I'm sure.
Something new and Tasty added to my pantry!! Thank You!
I have a hard time eating avocados so when I saw this oil on Thrive, I had to try it. I'm glad I did. It is very light and has a nutty flavor to it. I use it for just about everything, from salads to cooking with it. Try it!
This was my family's 1st try of avocado oil and we are in love w it! On salads, in cooking, a drizzle in a smoothie. Yippee!
