Why You’ll Love Organic Coconut Milk
Beloved for its taste and health benefits, coconut milk is a staple in many kitchens around the world. As a perfect non-dairy substitute, coconut milk is found in all sorts of wonderful dishes, ranging from peanut satays to curries, sauces, and soups. Oftentimes, coconut milk will be used as a basis for various sorts of coffees, teas, and other drinks, too.
How coconut milk is made
Coconut milk is traditionally made by soaking grated coconut meat (the white interior part of the coconut) in hot water and then straining out the solids. This way, coconut milk retains the nutritional values and is rich in texture. The final product is then packaged, usually in a can, where it takes on a similar appearance to regular whole milk. Because there is a decent amount of healthy fat in coconuts, a foamy layer of cream may form on top, which can be stirred in for an even thicker consistency.
What makes Thai Kitchen Organic Coconut Milk so good is its minimalism. Take a look at the back of the label and you won’t see chemicals of any sort. Thai Kitchen makes their variety by pressing the ripe meat of the absolute freshest organic coconuts harvested in Thailand and adding only a few other ingredients, including water and a small amount of guar gum, which is used as a thickening agent. Guar gum is a healthy fiber that is also useful in reducing cholesterol and treating stomach problems.
Because of its all-natural makeup, Thai Kitchen Organic Coconut Milk has been certified organic by the USDA, is Paleo-friendly, gluten-free, and dairy-free, and contains no additives or preservatives.
Health benefits of coconut milk
In addition to being a savory and delicious treat, coconut milk is also quite healthy for you. It’s an excellent source of vitamins and minerals, with hearty doses of fiber, an assortment of B vitamins, calcium, and magnesium in just one can. Combined together, these nutrients have a great impact on health and well-being and can lead to:
- Heart health. Coconut milk contains large amounts of magnesium, which is a mineral that helps regulate and lower blood pressure. Some studies have shown that magnesium may even help prevent heart attacks. Coconut milk also has a healthy amount of fiber, which is a nutrient that aids your body in maintaining a healthy weight and lowers the risk of heart disease.
- Prevention of disease. Studies have shown that coconut milk contains a large amount of antioxidants, which are the body’s first line of defense in combating harmful molecules that can cause cancer and other life-threatening diseases.
- Fighting infections. Lauric acid is found in high concentration in coconut milk. This fatty acid is similar to Omega-3 and is naturally abundant in breast milk. According to the National Center for Biotechnology Information, lauric acid is a natural antibacterial and very effective in ridding your body of bacteria and viruses. It may also reduce levels of bad cholesterol, lowering your risk of heart problems.
- Brainpower. Coconut milk is high in calories, though that might not be such a bad thing as it can give your brain the energy it needs to function at its very best. Coconuts have also been shown to prevent Alzheimer’s disease and age-related dementia.
- Hydration. If you’re looking for a natural drink rich in electrolytes, open a can of coconut milk. The electrolytes found inside help keep you hydrated, which in turn will make you feel less fatigued, nourish the digestive lining, and improve gut health. Coconuts have even been proactive in helping prevent ulcers.
- Weight loss. One of the biggest benefits of coconut milk is the high concentration of medium chain triglycerides, otherwise know as MCTs, a type of healthy fat that your body uses to increase energy and enhance vigor and physical performance. Because of the stamina-inducing powers, MCTs may play a part in weight loss and also reducing joint inflammation and complications of arthritis. Have a serving of coconut milk before working out for an excellent fuel source to keep energized.
- Prevention of anemia. The small, but notable, amount of iron in each serving can help prevent and reverse anemia, which can lead to fatigue, shortness of breath, and frequent bruising.
- Blood sugar management. MCTs also help slow the speed at which sugar enters into your bloodstream, providing better control over insulin levels and helping prevent conditions like diabetes.
Coconut milk is good for your hair
The vitamins and minerals in coconut milk also work to strengthen, moisturize, and beautify skin and hair. Try this quick and easy coconut milk facial cleanser. Or, just apply a thin layer over your face and allow it sit for 15 minutes before rinsing clean. As a result, your skin will be extraordinarily soft and have an opulent glow.
It is believed that lauric acids also have a part in moisturization and may help repair wrinkles and provide sunburn relief (some people even swear by coconut oil as an SPF).
Coconut milk can also be used as a conditioner to nourish damaged hair. For the best results, apply a good amount from root to tips and place hair in a shower cap where the milk can soak in. Let it sit for about 20 minutes before rinsing out and shampooing hair. After drying, you should notice added shine and manageability. Lauric acids will also help cut down on dandruff issues that creep up when your scalp is dry.
Coconut milk recipes
Even Starbucks is getting in on the coconut milk craze, offering it as one of the dairy alternatives for espresso-based drinks. You can also make a great vegan coffee creamer at home using it. But, with its mild taste and thick texture, coconut milk goes far beyond just drink recipes. Here are a few cooking applications you can try, too:
A steakhouse specialty, creamed spinach is a great side dish for meat, chicken, even eggs for a modern take on eggs florentine. This dairy-free variety uses coconut milk as the base with shallots, garlic, dijon mustard, and nutmeg for extra zip.
Coconut milk is an essential ingredient in Indian cuisine, and most often used in creating creamy curries that can be poured over your choice of protein. In this example, chicken is the main dish and the curry sauce is accented by turmeric, ginger, cardamom, and cinnamon.
Coconut milk can also pinch hit for dairy in sweet stuff, too. This tasty dessert provides a triple layer of chocolate mousse, vanilla chia pudding, and whipped bananas, with each layer using a good dose of the dairy substitute.

Thai coconut milk
This is a great price for a product we would frequently forget to pick up at the store. It is just the perfect thing to whip up a curry.
I use this rich creamy milk in my morning coffee and for cooking. I make sure I never run out.
I love this coconut milk. It's creamy and works well in paleo dishes.
I use it all the time for my coffe, for soups and even for my homemade shampoo.

Great Coconut Milk
It has the true coconut flavor and smell without artificial ingredients.
Use it Every Day
Since going dairy-free, I've started using a lot of this coconut milk. They carry this same brand at Winco, but Thrive's price is better.
this made a great clam chowder!
My Preferred Brand
Have been using this brand of coconut milk for a few years; it's the best price and I am not as concerned with BPA/BPB as others might be. Pleased with the texture and taste. I use this in my protein smoothies daily.
I use this for Thai chicken soup. Happy there is an organic version. Creamy and flavorful!
By far my Coconut Milk so far -- it's epically creamy (recommend mixing/blending well before use) -- and super delicious.
Thai Kitchen Organic Coconut Milk
I love my coconuts! Organic coconut milk is good for so many uses and is delicious. I like it with my rice, and for anything you would use animal milk or cream. It is not the same as the fresh coconut milk in the refrigerator section, more like condensed milk. Delicious!
Thai Coconut Milk
This should always be a staple in your Paleo pantry. Always my favorite for recipes.
We go through a LOT of coconut milk in our household and this brand is simply the best tasting choice.
Great price on a product we know and love
In my opinion coconut milk is one of those purchases where you stick to premium brands because it's used for flavor and cheap store brands do not taste as good to me. I love this brand and thrive offer a better price than our local grocery stores. I make a great coconut curry ;-)
I love this brand, the price, and that it is clean coconut milk. We use for curry, chia seed pudding, homemade ice cream and always have on hand.
Such a good product at such a great price.
So rich and creamy!
This coconut milk is absolutely delicious. I wish that I could order it in larger quantities than just 6 at a time!
Good buy - great quality!
This coconut milk has a great taste, it's good quality, and well-packaged! I use coconut milk for various meals like curries, pudding, and other creams. This is definitely my favorite organic coconut milk!

Creamy and Smooth
I've tried a few different brands of Coconut Milk, and this one is my favorite!
Some others have a gritty texture, even after you blend or shake them. This one, is just creamy and delicious. I use this anywhere I would normally use milk! I've also used it to bake a birthday cake for a vegan friend, and it was better than most non-vegan cake! Super moist, and a great fluffy texture. I've now started just keeping at least a few cans of this on hand, it's got a million uses! Oh, and if you've never had Tom Ka (coconut milk soup), it's the best thing ever, especially when you're sick.

Just like the real deal!
This coconut milk is the most authentic tasting out there. Just like what is used in the traditional Thai cuisines.
Added bonus is that it is organic and vegan! Although it is thicker than the competitors, it still contains guar gum which can sometimes leave a after taste on my sensitive palate.

Best taste out there
My wife is lactose intolerant and we use coconut milk as a substitute in a lot of our cooking. The Thai Kitchen coconut milk is our favorite so far. No other brand we've used has had such great flavor or consistent quality. We put this in our coffee, smoothies, mixed drinks, dressings etc. She makes delicious healthier versions of dairy-based desserts by substituting coconut milk for regular milk. We always have some in the house and the unsweetened version is perfect.

Dairy and Nut "Milk" Alternative
Growing up on an island I had Coconut Milk right out of the coconut and can remember the taste very clearly. This tastes exactly like I remember it tasting! Many island recipes call for "fresh coconut milk," this could absolutely fill that need. It may also substitute for Almond or Cashew milk.
You may want to keep this can at room temperature if you plan to add it to cold drinks as it will solidify. You will not have that problem if used in cooking- just be aware it may solidify is kept cold.

I buy at least 4 of these every couple weeks. Wonderful canned coconut milk!
I've tried others & have not been as pleased as I have been with Thai Kitchen organic coconut milk. Thick & creamy - perfect for all your coconut milk uses. I've learned not to deviate ever again...
Best coconut milk I've ever had; very creamy and flavorful and an excellent consistency.
Great consistency, amazing taste
Authentic Thai milk
I love Thai food, especially Tom Kha Gai, which is a soup and curry. This Thai Kitchen milk is so rich and creamy and it turns my ordinary Thai dishes into masterpieces. It's made from organic coconut water and that's about it. No sugar or salt and no dairy, just fresh coconut milk. Love this for all my Thai cooking.

Amazing, Healthy Coconut Milk!
If you have not tried coconut milk in your recipes yet, what are you waiting for? Thai Kitchen has one of the best tasting coconut milks around! So many great dishes are that much better with coconut milk.
I used to purchase coconut milk from the local chain store. It was expensive and, more times than not, the coconut cream was very little. The watery "milk" seemed to be the majority of the can. This is great for coconut ice cream, but not for a coconut whips style topping. Even after refrigeration, there is little cream vs milk.
Having Thai Kitchen Coconut Milk delivered helps with the non-separation of the cream. We purchase ours through Thrive Market online. They also have the best prices on this and most everything we now enjoy eating!

Drink it up
Coconut milk makes a perfect additive to smoothies. Since it is fiber rich it's great for heart health. I like the smooth creaminess it adds to my smoothies and the taste. It works in any and all smoothies, and is a great replacement for regular milk.
Great for Smoothies
I really love this coconut milk in smoothies. It also is great for a soup base in place of evaporated milk or cream and is a much healthier alternative to those as well. It tastes good and has the right amount of thickness to it compared to other, more watery coconut milks. It is thick and creamy and very rich-but in a great way. I like to keep a few cans in the house at all times.

A good staple
I love this stuff! organic, unsweetened, and easy to find. I'm glad I'll be getting a discount on it through Thrive now though.
