What could be more convenient than instant oatmeal? Though it’s certainly cheap and easy to heat up the contents of one of those little packets, the fake flavors and artificial additives aren’t exactly healthy. Instead, make a big batch of this customizable mix and divide individual servings into resealable plastic bags for breakfast on the run!
Yield: 6 to 8 servings
Active Time: 5 minutes
6 cups rolled oats, divided
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup dried fruit of choice (raisins, cranberries, dates, figs, cherries, apples)
1 to 2 tablespoons spices of choice (cinnamon, ginger, cardamom)
3 tablespoons superfoods of choice (hemp seeds, ground flaxseeds, chia seeds, goji berries, maca powder, lucuma powder)
3 tablespoons protein powder (optional)
3 tablespoons coconut sugar (optional)
Place 3 cups oats in blender and process until powdery. Mix in large bowl with rest of oats, salt, and desired dried fruit, spices, superfoods, and other additions. Stir to combine. Store in an airtight container.
To make oatmeal, spoon heaping 1/2 cup into a bowl and mix with 3/4 cup boiling water. Let cool 5 minutes before eating.
