Why You’ll Love Simply Sweet Potato Corn Tortilla Chips
Want a snack that’s Way Better? The proof is in the name of these sweet potato and corn tortilla chips that deliver a whole bag of health benefits while still offering a savory and irresistible flavor.
Each chip is packed with sprouted ingredients like chia seeds and quinoa that let you fill up on the good nutrients while keeping out the bad stuff, such as the excessive sodium, trans fats, and chemicals popular in traditional potato chips.
What are sprouted ingredients?
If you remember growing small plants out of beans in elementary school, that’s basically sprouting. The process typically starts with seeds, legumes, or grains that are soaked to wash away dirt and increase water volume, which helps to break the outer shell. Then, they are kept moist for a few days to encourage growth of the sprout. Once that happens (which will be visible with a tiny tail that pops out of the seed), the starches inside start to break down and release all types of nutrients including proteins, vitamins, and minerals.
Though the practice has been around for centuries, sprouted foods are certainly having an “it” moment. It’s not uncommon to make a trip to the grocery store and discover sprouted lentils, mung beans, quinoa, and rice. Other brands may also advertise breads, pastas, and cereals made from sprouted wheat, spelt, and barley.
In particular, Way Better Snacks Simply Sweet Potato Corn Tortilla Chips makes use of sprouted quinoa and chia seeds. They are sourced directly from BioEssential Botanicals, one of the world’s leading experts in sprouting, making for an irresistible snack that tastes good and is even better for your health.
The benefits of sprouted ingredients
Sprouting boosts the nutritional content of seeds, grains, and beans while also making them more digestible for the body. While these foods can be consumed in non-sprouted form, of course, they are more likely to contain "anti-nutrients" like phytic acid that have the potential to interfere with digestion and cause inflammation and allergic reactions.
When phytic acid is deactivated, antioxidants, nutrients, and vitamins (such as calcium and iron) are better able to be absorbed in the digestive tract. The process also increases the grain’s amino acids and vitamin C content. That’s important because each of these essential dietary items provides the body with fuel and other far-reaching health benefits.
As the popular “Got Milk” commercials taught us, bodies need calcium to build and maintain strong bones. But calcium also does so much more. The heart, muscles, and nerves need the mineral to function properly. It also does wonders for maintaining weight and preventing colon cancer, premenstrual depression, and kidney stones.
Iron helps red blood cells deliver oxygen to the rest of the body, which provides the energy needed to go about your day. Low levels can be associated with shortness of breath, anxiousness, and lack of focus. In some extreme cases, low iron can also lead to anemia.
Amino acids are often called the “building blocks” of the body. Every basic element of human life, including the synthesis of proteins, hormones, and enzymes, comes from the work of amino acids. They help create most solid matter in the body, including the heart, skin, eyes, intestines, bones, and muscle.
Vitamin C is vital for its reparative properties. It helps to grow and fortify tissue in the body, which is important for healing after surgery or injuries. Vitamin C also creates collagen, the protein that keeps skin supple and prevents signs of early aging. Collagen decreases as we age, which will change the texture and tone of skin unless the protein is replaced through sources like vitamin C. But that’s not all—vitamin C has also proven effective in the prevention of heart disease since it helps to decrease triglycerides and LDL cholesterol levels.
The benefits of sweet potatoes
Sweet potatoes are a great source of beta-carotene, which is a vital nutrient that promotes good vision, strong bones, and strong immunity. Just 3.5 ounces of sweet potatoes can provide up to 90% of the daily recommended values for beta-carotene. In recent studies, participants who consumed sweet potatoes showed greatly increased blood levels of the nutrient, particularly children.
The perfect pairs for sweet potato corn tortilla chips
These delectable chips are hearty and sturdy, meaning you can load them up with healthy dips and pair alongside soups, too.
Snack time is elevated with this standout dip that perfectly accompanies sweet potato chips. It’s made with mashed cannellini beans flavored with lemon, garlic, and salt, and then topped with spinach and roasted tomatoes. If you do have any leftover, store in an airtight container to enjoy the next time you are craving Way Better chips.
Hummus lovers, bookmark this recipe. It provides an alternative to traditional chickpeas that tastes just as good; some might say even better. Simply soak almonds overnight and then puree with olive oil, tahini, garlic, lemons, and fresh sage. The combo gives this hummus loads of original flavor.
For a spicy dip that complements the sweet undertones in Way Better chips, try this recipe. It’s inspired by muhammara, a traditional Syrian dip that combines red bell peppers, walnuts, tomato, garlic, and other zesty ingredients.
Way Better Snacks are tortilla chips after all, so what better to pair them with than traditional salsa? Except this is no regular salsa. Slow-roasted tomatoes add a new depth of flavor to the mix and the garlic, shallots, parsley, and red pepper flakes make it even more tangy.
Imagine how delicious this squash soup would be with sweet potato chips to soak up all the flavor. First, you’ll want to roast the squash low and slow, allowing the sugars to fully develop and produce a rich, sweet flavor. Then, add in caramelized onion and roasted garlic for even more texture and taste.

These taste good. It is a truly equal blend of corn and sweet potato.
Delicious and healthy
These are great tasting! I wish Thrive carried the regular corn flavored ones in this brand - those are even tastier!
These taste so good and are quite addicting!
Love the flavor! Great replacement for traditional tortilla chips!
My favorite chips!
I am obsessed with this chips. Something about the texture and the taste make them so much better than most tortilla chips, plus they have healthy ingredients!
This chips was solo good, hands down the best sweet potatoe tortilla chips I've ever tasted.
- Sammy Sam
I have to buy these two at a time -- 'his and hers' -- I'll take out a handful and store them in the cupboard above my desk, with good intentions to restrain myself. Generally, they're gone before the end of the day. ;)
Delicious , can't stop
I like the taste It did not taste like sweet potato
These are fantastic. Took them to work and everyone was shocked when I told them they were sweet potato chips. Not too thick and not too thin. Will definitely order these every time I order from Thrive.
They are so good ! Love them !!
Wow, I didn't expect these chips to taste so delicious!
Oh gosh, love these!! Flavor and crunch, just the right amount of salt. I had trouble putting the bag down.
I was hesitant to try these cause I've not found a sweet potato chip I've liked... I was pleasantly surprised! These taste great!
Sweet potato chips
Pretty good. Nice flavor. Crunchy, good substitute for regular chips!
Friend & Family Favorite!
These sprouted chips are so healthy and bioavailable for easy digestion you can't go wrong with this snack! I have turned on every family member and friend to them--they are SO good!!
My whole family likes these chips - even the children. They taste just like any corn chip with a light sesame flavor.
OMG!! So healthy and so delish!
Crispy, sweet and salty, perfect with hummus or on their own. Got these free with an order and i'm ordering two more bags! I love that the grains are sprouted--easier to digest and more nutritious! yahooo!!
I got these as a free gift with purchase and they were so good! I'm a fan of sweet potatoes in general, but didn't know how they'd taste as a chip. I have to say that this is a snack that I'd purchase again and again.
Love the crunch, the goodness of the sweet potato, and the fact that the sprouting makes them all the more nutritious makes a win, win, win combination. YUM!
If I'm going to eat chips...
...this is my first choice, along with the sweet chili flavor that Thrive needs to get in stock (can you hear me now, Thrive?).
Not much for the sweet taste but they have ve a good crunch.
Better than classic chips
These are so amazing!! I love that they have no added sugar. Makes me feel less guilty ;). They are one of my go to snacks.
I love these chips!
Great snack food and a change from usual chips!
These are the only chips that my husband will eat and the price is great.
These are great.. excellent taste, go good with dips or just by it self.
Tried These and was disappointed but they are my go to tortilla chips now.
I tried these and was disappointed at the lack of sweet potato flavor. They are delicious multigrain tortilla chips though and are now my go to.
SWEET POTATOE CHIPS
LOVE THESE CHIPS. GET PLAIN OR WITH HUMMAS

I love these chips!!
My weakness has never been sweets but CHIPS! It was the hardest thing to give up when I changed my lifestyle. I don't keep these around all the time because I will empty a bag in one sitting. But because I don't do that often and these are mostly sprouted and all GMO free I don't worry when I do. These are my favorite flavor but the others are good too. I don't even like sweet potatoes yet the lightly salted corn and potato flavor are amazing!
These aren't my favorite flavor from Way Better Snacks, but if you're looking for an alternative to regular tortilla chips, these are pretty good. I'll usually stick with other chips instead, but I have a friend who absolutely loves these and prefer non-GMO chips, so I'll pick these up on a regular basis for her. I'm actually surprised that the Thrive price is a couple dollars cheaper than I've ever seen it before. It was shipped with nice padding too, so none of the chips were squished. I'll be buying these from here from now on!

Omega 3 and low fat
I really like these sweet potato chips. They are made from healthy ingredients with as few additives as possible.
My only slight criticism is I wanted more sweet potato flavor and less tortilla chip taste. But these are still my favorite of the Way Better chip offerings.
- M. Ricardo
Wonderful Chip, great price
I joined Thrive about a month ago after seeing all the awesome health products they offered.
But I'm stunned at the discounts. I love sweet potatoes and tortillas, so these chips were one of my first orders. They are fantastic, all natural, with nothing added. As close to eating a sweet potato in chip form as you can get.
And at $2.65, it's less than what I pay at my local store for fat-laden tortilla chips that aren't organic and aren't good for me. Thanks to Thrive, I'm eating better but not paying the cost of premium organic food.
- Monica Rodriguez
I love sweet potatoes
I love sweet potatoes, so I was curious about this product. It's worth it though! I liked how dry they were, and they do taste like sweet potatoes. This is a great chip if you're a fan of sweet potatoes.
- Guadalupe Jefferson
I'll be honest, these aren't my favorite chips but they are really good and pretty healthy. They are great for parties when you want to have a variety of snacks as well.
Brilliance in chip form!
Sweet potatoes? Yes, please! I love anything and everything with sweet potato, but putting them in a tortilla chip - brilliant! The sweetness and the crunch go so well together. Thank you for making a nutritious and delicious tortilla chip!
- Angel B.
A great healthy alternative
These chips have just the right amount of sweet potato flavor. With sprouted and non-gmo ingredients, they're a much healthier alternative to regular tortilla chips. Gotta love that they're guilt-free and taste even better than regular tortilla chips!
