Why You’ll Love Non-GMO Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon
Wild Planet provides a world of good for fish lovers. Their wild pink salmon comes straight from the fresh Alaskan waters, where it has been sustainably caught by local fishing families and then canned fresh (rather than cut from frozen stock) to ensure quality.
Each can of wild salmon is packed with boneless and skinless fillets preserved in natural juices and sealed tight for the best nutritional value, which includes a rich concentration of omega-3 fatty acids. The soft texture and natural flavor also cuts down on preparation time so you can easily cook up a satisfying meal—in more ways than one.
The values of Wild Planet Alaskan Pink Salmon
Because of the sustainable way Wild Planet catches and naturally prepares their fish, each can of wild pink salmon has a number of nutritional values, including:
It’s also free of:
- Dyes and coloring
- High fructose corn syrup
- Added sugar and other sweeteners
- Artificial ingredients
- Trans fats
Even better, the can is BPA-free and recyclable, so you’re doing both the world and yourself some good by eating Wild Planet products.
Nutritional value of wild pink salmon
While there is still growing concern about the high amount of mercury, pesticides, and organic pollutants found in salmon farms, one of the great things about Wild Planet Pink Salmon is that their fish is caught in the wild and not raised in a hatchery. In so doing, Wild Planet avoids many of these problems and provides a reliable, protein-rich source of food that can supplement many diets.
In addition to being low fat, one of the biggest benefits of lean fish like salmon is that it’s packed full of omega-3 fatty acids, which have been shown to further improve heart health and regulate cholesterol along with dozens of other benefits. Something to consider the next time you want to eat red meat.
Here are some of the benefits you can enjoy by simply swapping in wild pink salmon a few times a week:
- Cardiovascular health – Omega-3 fatty acids are widely regarded as a helpful way to regulate and reduce cholesterol, which provides a significant benefit to total cardiovascular health. These good fats keep veins flexible and improve the strength of cardiac muscles, while also repairing tissue. As an added bonus, omega-3’s help to reduce blood pressure and ease the work of the heart, which can reduce your chances of having a heart attack.
- Better brain function and memory – Plentiful amounts of omega-3 fatty acids also have a positive effect on brain functionality. Studies have shown that people who regularly include foods like salmon in their diet show better memory and brain capacity after long work days. There’s also burgeoning research that says these fatty acids have a dual effect in the treatment of depression and Alzheimer's and Parkinson's diseases.
- Slowing down aging – Pink salmon is rich in amino acids, selenium, and vitamins A and D. In particular, amino acids work to protect the skin and nervous system from the natural effects of aging.
- Stronger eyes – The omega-3’s and amino acids in salmon also work to slow down macular degeneration and prevent loss of vision and eye fatigue. It's actually been proven that people who eat a large amount of fish in their diet have better vision than those that don't.
- More effective metabolism – If being able to consume more food while also losing weight sounds like a dream come true, it can be possible with salmon. The powerful trio of omega-3’s, vitamin D, and selenium works together to lower insulin levels and facilitate better absorption of glucose, lowering blood sugar levels.

Try this amazing dish that contains a number of clean flavors, plus kelp noodles, which helps to avoid a number of unnecessary carbohydrates that would come from starchy noodles or rice. The heat of red curry mixed in with notes of coriander and cumin help to really bring the bowl to life. Adjust the taste with extra cilantro, lime, or basil garnish.
Find a delicious pairing of Middle Eastern tastes with this light, grain-free bowl. By using cauliflower rice, the recipe is both Paleo and gluten-free. Reviews For Non-GMO Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon
Based on 47 Reviews
I did a little research before buying this for the first time,
and learned a bit about the difference between the pink and red sockeye salmon. Apparently, they have similar nutritional benefits, but are a different "breed"; the pink mature faster and are caught at a younger age, reducing the time that they're out hunting for smaller fish and thus accumulating much less mercury. It's truly delicious, though not as showy as the red salmon. I've bought this several times and will continue to do so.
Excellent flavor, low salt.
Good quality and great flavor, highly recommend.
Excellent salmon in a can I have ever tasted.
Mild and delicious
Delicious. I make salmon croquettes, or put it on a salad. Mild flavor, I can eat it out of the can. Yummy. I'm ordering more.
salmon for all
Very good taste and great for salads and salmon loaf. Even our little one likes it.
Love this product - always purchase several to have on hand. Makes for a perfect breakfast, lunch or dinner.
I am not one for fish, but I have been lacking some of the vitamins that Salmon provides. I decided to try this one since it is responsibly fished. It was good and I felt great after eating it.
Easy, Nutriitous Lunch in a can
This is the best canned salmon I have ever had. There is nothing in my local supermartket to compare, because I've tried them all! I use it mostly over a garden salad for lunch but I'm sure it would make up into delicious salmon "cakes" (as in crab cakes) and any other way you would use a canned fish.
Non-GMO Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon
Love, Love, Love this. I order this as much as I can on my budget. I make salmon patties out of it. My husband loves it too. Says it is his favorite thing I make. It's cheaper than buying it fresh. Works for us!
Healthy ... and delicious !
If you could put 5-stars in a can, this would be a good choice.
Pretty (& tasty) in Pink
Love this pink salmon. Excellent taste, quality, & freshness. Good on salad for lunch. Yum.
Great product clean source of salmon
Non-GMO Wild Alaskan Pink Salmon
This salmon was very good. Tasted like it had a lot of sodium in it. we are on low sodium diets.
I'm not a fish fan but my family is. I wanted to make salmon patties and decided to try making them with this salmon. They turned out perfectly. Very tasty salmon.
Great on a bed of spinach
I love the convenience of healthy, clean and naturally raised salmon in a can. It's great on a bed of spinach with other veggies and almonds. Will definitely order again!

Love this pink salmon.not a fishy smell at all, great price, great taste, came back for second order.
This canned salmon has been a staple for me for months. It's delicious and high quality. I like to eat it inside those coconut Paleo Wraps (both regular and turmeric).
Great way to get Omegas
I love having this salmon in the cupboard. I use it in stirfrys and I've even made salmon black bean burgers with it before! Great taste and quality!
- Tiffiny S.
best canned salmon.
This actually tastes like salmon. It's far superior to the large cans I've been buying at the supermarket. Worth the extra cost!
Love this product!
Great product for so many reasons!
1. Great for travel with the pop-top
2. Wild harvested and sustainable
3. Tastes great
4. No garbage ingredient
Highly recommend this and if you need easy travel protein, this is perfect and easy to consume.
Superior canned salmon
I've tried various canned fish products over the years and this is the best product in my opinion because of the integrity of the fish and its high quality. I am a fan of the fact that it is boneless and skinless and in case you haven't ordered it yet, you can open the can without a can opener! It has less sodium than most canned fish but I still wish it was a bit lower.
All in all it is a great product that I will definitely be purchasing again.

Surprisingly good, but not like the tuna.
I am more of a cooked salmon type of gal. However, after trying Wild Planet's tuna, I was excited to try the salmon. I figured I can get much of the Omega 3 without having to spend much time in the kitchen cooking it.
Surprisingly, it had a pleasant flavor. Yet, it did not live up to Wild Planet juicy tuna.
I still prefer the cooked salmon but can use this for salads or straight out of the can with some lime after a workout.
Great business, delicious salmon
I really like Wild Planet's tuna and have recently started buying all my canned seafood from them because of their integrity to ethical practices. I saw that they had salmon and decided to give it a try. I'd been getting it from Amazon and it was a little pricey, but it tasted great and I didn't mind paying extra to know that it was sustainably farmed. When I saw it here on Thrive Market, it was considerably more affordable and when I called in to ask about it, they were friendly and informative (I missed out on a coupon for my first order, but they pointed me to another great promotion instead).
It's a really great protein to have on hand. I can dump the can over a salad or mix some mayo, mustard, and spices right into the can for some tuna salad on the go.
- Jonathon P.
Excellent Canned Salmon
It's just Salmon and Salt! That's It! No water making it mushy at all. For canned fish, the texture is great, nice and flaky. I like to mix it into whipped cream cheese and spread it on bagels, delicious! It also goes well on salad.
On top of the great quality, I was very impressed when I read about their responsible fishing practices! I realize that over fishing is a serious issue, but I also don't trust farm-raised Salmon. This Salmon is the perfect compromise, I get my tasty fish, and don't feel guilty about how it was caught. I'll definitely be ordering this regularly!

Honest Company and a Great Product
The Wild Planet company has amazing company values and takes care in packaging and labeling. They once voluntary removed the "BPA Free" logo from their packaging when trace amounts were found.
Wild Salmon is great on salads, in cake form and in pasta. I use it in everything! No water is added to the can- only ingredients are fish and salt! Boneless, skinless and well worth the price! Thanks Thrive!

Moist and tender
I was not sure what to expect because I had never eaten salmon from a can before this. WOW! I'm hooked (LOL). As a truck driver, I like to eat canned fish straight up, out of the can. Salmon has a bit more fat than tuna, so it's a moist and tender fillet.
This product is a winner, and it can only get better if you know how to assemble recipes.
Light and not a fishy smell at all. Perfect for those of use who prefer meat over fish.
I Love Pink Salmon to begin with and even saw this product while shopping earlier. I almost put it in my basket, but backed off, until I saw the anti-inflamatory benefits associated with this food. I know I will purchase it now, I have been suffering from an unexplained bout with heavy inflamation in my joints that has become quite painful, and desperately need to find a solution to this growing problem. Thank you, THRIVE, you are proof that everything is in perfect order, and nothing happens by accident. I LOVE this store.
This is one of the better canned salmon I had. Excellent taste and good quality. Nothing pressed in, nice piece of fish. Only trumped by the sockeye salmon from Wild planet.
The goodness of salmon
Freshly canned fish means that this salmon has perfect flavor. The natural juices shouldn't be wasted either, use them in your salmon noodle salads for an extra dose of healthy oils.
GMO free means that this stuff doesn't just taste good but it is super good for you. Don't miss out on the benefits of this super food!
- Allie Tindle
Healthy skin and mind
The Omega 3 fatty acids that salmon, and other fish, are packed full of do a ton of good things for the body. It's good for the mind, and might even help fight dementia. It's good for the skin and may help with some skin related ailments.
I like to eat salmon on salads and in sandwiches. It can sometimes have too much of a fishy flavor, but this brand is fairly mild.
- R. Houge
A healthier salmon choice
While salmon isn't my first choice for fish, this can of salmon is pretty good and makes a good sometimes replacement for canned tuna. I don't use it for everything I use tuna for, but it tastes pretty good on a cracker.
It also makes a great lunch food on a sandwich with some lettuce, and maybe even a tomato!
- James Lescar
Have been buying this at my local food store, but I'm really happy to see that Thrive offers it for much less. I'll be eating this a lot more often now. This is some good salmon. Works perfectly on top of my spinach lunch. Has a great flavor, and it's boneless and skinless. It doesn't have an extra water or oil added, so it takes virtually no draining in order to eat it. You could probably eat it straight out of the can if you wanted. Definitely a nice way to get my protein.
Perfect Pink Salmon
Having never tried pink salmon, I was hesitant to purchase this Wild Planet product. My doctor said salmon is a superfood and is full of Omega fatty acids needed for brain, bone and overall health.
I started including salmon in salads with light mayo and some crunch veggies. The flavor is amazing. I grateful Thrive as this on their shelves and at a great price.
- Wayne Carroll
Salmon is good for you
Pink salmon is one of those things I don't eat very often. It's not that I do like it, but I am more of a fresh fish person. When I do opt for canned salmon this is one of the best brands on the market.
I love getting my products from Thrive Market where they give me a great "value" list of the benefits in what I order. Such as this being a gluten-free food. They take the guess work out of any meal planning!
- Virgie Gold
I love tuna and I love this product!
I love tuna and I love this product! I was hesitant to buy this canned tuna at first. I don't like the metal smell or taste nor the fishy odor and taste. But however this product from wild planet is awesome. I have no complains whatsoever. The tuna tastes great, there are no pungent odors and no metal taste from the can.
- Kristin Terry
Decent, but not as good as the tuna
I've been a Wild Planet tuna eater for a few years, and I finally decided to see if their salmon was as good. I don't eat salmon as often as tuna, so this was more of an experiment. So, it's decent, but not quite up to the tuna standard.
The price was alright, but I found the salmon to be a tad bland, not bad, just not as flavorful as I was hoping. Again, I'm not into salmon quite as much as tuna, so maybe that's the problem. Still like Wild Planet overall, and the salmon's ok, but not what I was expecting in terms of it blowing me away.
- Ronald Morton
Rich taste but they need new cans
Well, this is probably the best canned salmon I've tasted, and I've tried a few. It's not a strong flavor, meaning it doesn't taste real fishy if that's something you don't like. The salmon is flaky and moist, and tastes great.
One thing that bugs me is that the can isn't BPA free, and with all the baby stuff I had to throw out because of it, I wish Wild Planet would do something about that. Seems weird that as healthy as this salmon is, the company wouldn't make sure the cans are just as healthy.
- Rose Martin
Love this salmon
Wild Planet's got a bunch of great products out, especially their tuna, but the salmon's at another level. It's flaky, moist and best of all, doesn't actually taste 'fishy.' I know that sounds crazy, I mean, why would you buy salmon if you don't want to taste fish, but some canned fish is so overpowering that you're put off before you even take a bite.
There's no bones and the salmon is skinned before it's canned, so I'm eating pure fish. I usually mix it into a salad, or make it into a spread with mustard and relish for a great sandwich. I've also got a salmon pattie recipe I want to try, but haven't gotten to it yet. Will write again when I made that dish.
- Raylene M.
Good and good for you!
These six-ounce cans of pink salmon are fantastic. And I'm getting them for nearly two dollars less here than on some of the other sites I've been on. I'm a big fitness guy, so something as healthy as fresh salmon that's caught with sustainable practices is awesome.
But it's all about the taste, and Wild Alaskan is tops in that department. I've tried their tuna and loved it, so I was expecting the same from the salmon and it stood up strong. I don't really have much time to do more than just eat it straight out of the can, though I'm sure it makes a great sandwich spread. Awesome, awesome salmon at a great price.
