We’ve worked closely with key industry watchdogs to identify partners who catch sustainable and traceable seafood. Alaskan sockeye salmon is rich and buttery, while mild, tender cod flakes perfectly when cooked. Try barramundi for a succulent and sustainable catch, or wild-caught scallops that contain no added chemicals and cook up sweet with delicate flavor. Finally, our shrimp comes peeled and deveined after being sustainably wild-caught off the shores of Mexico.
Our seafood is caught from areas of the ocean that are actively monitored to prevent overfishing. In addition, the fishermen we source from work to minimize bycatch in two key ways:
- Avoiding FAD fishing, a commonly used method that electronically pulls marine life into nets
- When nets are used, they’re anchored both to shore and a small boat before being stretched across a small portion of the river
Is wild caught the only way?
Working in the wild isn’t the only strategy to keep the supply chain healthy. Sustainable farming can actually be part of the solution—really! According to Seafood Watch, “When good practices are used, it's possible to farm seafood in a way that has very little impact to the environment. Such operations limit habitat damage, disease, farmed fish escaping (and competing with wild populations for food), and the use of wild fish as feed.” Raising fish in a controlled environment, like indoor recirculating tanks, also helps protect the species from overfishing, and farmers are able to create ideal conditions by controlling temperature and light to help the fish grow.
There’s nothing fishy about our selection of seafood recipes! Try them all for a fresh take on dinner.
This classic dish has some serious staying power. For our version, we give shrimp the smoky treatment with a dusting of paprika, pepper, salt, and a coating of special sauce that kicks the flavor up a notch. Artfully arranged on a bed of greens alongside hard-boiled eggs, creamy avocado, and juicy tomatoes, it’s a filling meal any day of the week.
Time for a fish fry! Coat our cod in a silky beer batter, then fry them up to golden perfection. Dunk each fillet in creamy, pickle-spiked tartar sauce for the ultimate summer dinner.
Mild in flavor and color, cauliflower makes an ideal sub for rice in grain-free cooking. Here, we're using it as a base for a roasted salmon and sautéed veggies, and perk up every bite with traditional Middle Eastern spices.
