Why You’ll Love Avocado Oil
It’s no wonder that avocados are so green in color. They are the literal envy of the produce world with a number of incredible health-boosting properties that have earned them a reputation as a superfood. Not only are they smooth, creamy, and delicious in salads, smoothies, even brownie mixes, but avocados are also full of good fats and vital nutrients such as potassium, folate, and vitamins K, C, and E.
What’s their secret? Avocados are actually 75 percent oil and full of heart-healthy oleic acid.
La Tourangelle bottles the wholesomeness of the fruit by handcrafting 100 percent pure, all-natural avocado oil from premium stock. The resulting emerald green oil can be used in lieu of extra virgin olive oil or coconut oil in any number of recipes, and can also be used topically on skin and hair for cosmetic effects. With so many applications, it’s a good thing La Tourangelle Avocado Oil comes in this 500 ml bottle.
The health benefits of avocado oil
Let us count the ways—six to be exact.
1. Avocado oil is almost 70 percent oleic acid.
The composition of avocado oil is remarkably similar to olive oil. That is, it’s comprised of some amounts of omega-6 fatty acids, omega-3 fatty acids, a small amount of saturated fats—and the rest is oleic acid. Oleic acid is a monounsaturated omega-9 fatty acid, which has been associated with numerous health benefits in scientific studies.
One of the most significant is a range of cardiovascular benefits, including easing hypertension and lowering LDL cholesterol and triglycerides in the bloodstream. Some research has indicated that it also has the ability to increase HDL levels, but the results are still being debated in the scientific community. So what does that all mean?
There are three lipids in the bloodstream: HDL, LDL, and triglycerides. HDL is known as the “good” cholesterol and high levels of it have been linked to good cardiovascular health. Mostly it scavenges and removes LDL (or the “bad” cholesterol) from the bloodstream and prevents LDL from building up on artery walls where it can cause arteriosclerosis. Although scientists are still unsure of just how triglycerides affect the body, high triglyceride levels have been associated with a number of cardiovascular and metabolic diseases as well.
2. Avocado oil is high in lutein.
Avocado oil is also a good source of lutein, a carotenoid that plays an important role in the eyes. Lutein accumulates in the macula (the portion of the retina that is responsible for central vision). Scientists hypothesize that lutein performs two important functions—the first is that it acts as an antioxidant to protect the eye from oxidative stress; the second is that it’s a pigment that absorbs blue light, thereby protecting the eyes from possible damage by high-energy blue light photons.
Either way, it’s good news. The body doesn’t produce its own stores of lutein, so avocado oil is a great way to supplement your diet with this essential compound.
3. Avocado oil is high in vitamin E.
Avocado has some of the highest vitamin E concentrations of any food. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble antioxidant that is adept at protecting cell membranes from oxidative damage by free radicals. By preventing cell damage from these invaders, vitamin E improves skin and eye health and boosts the immune system in general.
4. Avocado oil enhances the absorption of important nutrients.
So many of the vitamins and minerals we need on a daily basis are fat-soluble compounds, meaning they need fat in order to be absorbed into the body. Unfortunately, most vegetables are generally low in fat, which means the nutrients they offer are less likely to be penetrate various organs and tissues without some assistance. Cooking with avocado oil can do the trick. Not only is it nourishing on its own, but its high fat content allows nutrients from other sources to be absorbed as well.
5. Avocado oil is good for your skin.
Vitamin E, potassium, and lecithin, which are found in abundance in avocado oil, are also important nutrients for skin health. They are easily absorbed into the topmost epidermis as well as the deeper layers of skin, which fortifies the health of existing and growing skin cells. Avocado oil also protects skin by accelerating the healing process.
6. Avocado oil is good for your hair.
The same nutrients that are responsible for skin health are also good for your hair. Avocado oil protects strands from moisture loss, from tangles that can exacerbate split-ends, and from chemicals that can leach protein from the follicles.
Cooking with La Tourangelle Avocado Oil
With a similar fat composition and smoke point (375 degrees Fahrenheit) as extra virgin olive oil, avocado oil can be used as a substitute in pretty much any culinary application. It also has a more mild flavor than coconut oil for more savory dishes.
The subtleness is a perfect complement to sliced fruits, cheeses, or cold vegetable dishes while the purity and quality of the oil is caliber enough that you could simply drizzle some onto a Caprese salad or use as a dipping oil for some rustic bread.
Try replacing olive oil with avocado oil in your next salad dressing. Or, pan fry chicken and fish and sauté vegetables with avocado oil to give bland ingredients a fragrant flavor boost that is also quite healthy.
You can also use it as pure decoration. Avocado oil has a beautiful emerald green color that looks stunning drizzled onto a plate as a garnish.
Cosmetic uses for La Tourangelle Avocado Oil
Avocado oil is great for skin in general, but especially for wound healing. The next time you have a cut, scrape, burn, or other skin injury, thoroughly clean the area and then massage a drop or two of avocado oil onto the surface to help your skin heal faster and reduce the chance of scarring.
To reap avocado oil’s benefits for hair, mix a few drops of avocado oil with a few drops of your favorite essential oils (we like tea tree oil and peppermint oil), and massage into your hair and scalp. Leave in for a half hour and then wash hair normally. It will feel healthy and luxurious with incredible shine.

This is such a great oil. I love it on my salad and last night I made 'garlic toast' using some Avocado Oil and chopped garlic ... you have NO idea! It was amazeballs!
I love this oil! I use it for all my Asian cooking when I don't want the flavor of olive oil, and for salads when I want a more neutral flavor.
Love it!!! I use it to make natural hair care products and it works so well.
I use it for making mayo yum yum
Great to cook with!
I use this oil all of the time but especially when I need to cook something at high heat. Love it!
I use this mostly to put on my face. I heard it builds collagen. It has 'lifted my face'. Wrinkles and deep lines are filling in...almost gone. It's taken about 5 months. This actually works. Just put on when I get home in the evenings (after removing makeup)...and leave it on until showering in the morning.
Great for high heat cooking
Works great for high heat cooking. Doesn't have an aftertaste like olive oil.
My new go-to oil
I like this oil a lot. You can use it for about anything. I will continue to keep it in stock.
I love this oil
My first bottle of this was a free gift and now I'm hooked, use it every time I fry and egg, cook mexican food and make salad dressing, such good flavor!
Perfect healthful oil
This is a staple at my house for cooking and when I don't want a "flavored" oil.
More than satisfied
I love this product!! I use it all the time. It gives great flavor to everything I use it in!!
Great Substitution for Coconut Oil
I like to use Avocado oil as a substitution for Coconut oil. Some dishes just don't go well with Coconut.

great oil for cooking
The only thing is I do prefer it in a glass bottle. But otherwise it is a great oil for everything.
Better than olive oil.
Was looking for an alternative to olive oil and this was a perfect swap. Didn't really taste the avocado but it was a nice light oil to add to recipes.
Tastes very good
Since we are following a Keto diet we eat this on everything!
This was our first time using avocado oil, and love the flavor. A good value compared to our local grocery who only carries another brand with bottles holding significantly less oil at a higher cost. Love bottle as well.
The avocado oil is a tasty additional to salads, veggies snacks and soups!
I love avocado oil! It is a healthy oil for salad dressings and cooking.
This is so great for both cooking and cold- it holds up to heat and we use for sautéing, baking, broiling as well as for salad dressing.
This can was much smaller than I thought it would be. I will get my Avocado oil from Costco again.
I needed an oil besides coconut (which tastes a little too sweet for dinner items) that doesn't create harmful chemicals once heated. This works perfect. I even used it in an omelet and my kids were happy with dinner. This is my go to for when I can't use olive oil because it will be heated.
Some good stuff...very usefull
Love this stuff!
I have been using this avocado oil for some time now. I used to get it from amazon, but thrive's price is better. I will continue to buy it here!
I use it to coat my organic chicken and grassfed steak; after I have put my heavy duty spices on. Let them soak for about 2 hours then I coat my George Forman grill and in 8 minutes have awesome meals. Best part clean up while grill still warm and wipes clean eaisly
love the product, delivered poorly
From the first time I had avocado oil, i've never gone back to olive oil. The flavor is worlds better, and has a higher heat tolerance. Sadly it was delivered to us with a huuuuuuge dent. But i'm not sure if that matters with oils, as it does with other can food.
Better on skin
To me it had a very strong flavor. Its not too bad to cook with, I couldn't tolerate the taste in my mayo. It was just too strong for me, but my skin is soft. I will finish up the can that way.
Great Alt to Olive Oil
When I'm not using coconut oil, I use this. I like the flavor it adds to my dishes (especially salads) more so than olive oil. My only wish- that there was a bigger size because I go through it so quickly.
Better as a lotion
I bought this on the recommendation of a friend who said she was using this instead of olive oil.
My verdict is that it's probably not my favorite for cooking because it has a strong flavor to it that can be overpowering. It does work better as a moisturizer. I mix it in with coconut oil and shea butter (I think another reviewer mentioned this), for a natural lotion that is great for my skin and doesn't leave it greasy.

Essential for making mayonnaise
I buy this avocado oil as one of the main ingredients for the mayonnaise I made at home. I use organic egg substitute, lemon juice, mustard and avocado oil to make a healthy, low fat mayonnaise that has great flavor. The oil is a key ingredient, because if it's too strong or aromatic, it ruins the mayonnaise. La Tourangelle is mild but flavorful, and it's never failed to make a great mayonnaise.
Cooking and other uses
I like avocado oil as a base for my stir fry and sautees. I also like to pour it over salad instead of using balsamic.
I've started making my own body moisturizer, using shea butter, avocado oil, olive oil and essential oils, and it works great for that purpose, especially since avocados have been used for years as a natural face. This is a great oil with multiple uses.

Healthy fats oil
This is a pure oil made from avocados and nothing else. No preservatives or sugar or sodium. Just the oil extracted from organic avocados.
It's a great oil if you're moving off from olive oil, and you want something a bit different. It doesn't have a strong avocado taste, so it's safe for you use in a lot of dishes, because it's not overpowering.
- Maurice Bridges
I love to use avocado oil in my kitchen. I use it similar to olive oil. It makes a great flavorful dip (just add some spices). It tastes just as great with vegetables as it does with fruit. It makes a great salad dressing and even works as a dressing on sandwiches.
Avocado oil is full of Omega 3, which is a fat that is actually good for you. It promotes heart and brain health.
- Gabbie H
This healthy oil that is full of fats that are good for you isn't just good for the mind and body, it tastes great too. I like using avocado and avocado oil as a replacement for many things. It tastes great in pasta salad, as a salad dressing, as a drizzle for fruit salad and it even tastes great with some spices over meat and other entrees.
If you aren't into cooking it, avocado oil is also good for the skin!

If You Like Avocados, You'll Love this Oil!
Beautiful, clean, smooth avocado oil is one of the best ways to begin a healthy diet. If you change from your old corn based oil to avocado oil, you will start noticing a difference almost immediately. This natural oil is good for your digestive system and your skin, nails and hair. It's also delicious with a light, almost nutty flavor.
I purchase my avocado oil through Thrive Market. I recovered the membership fee with the savings on my first purchase! Win-Win!

Salad Dressing Savior
My doctor told me that I needed to give up my high-fat salad dressing and find a new alternative, and after trying a bunch of vinaigrettes, I was at a loss for what to try. I realized that I already loved avocados, so why didn't I try to find a salad-friendly version? La Tourangelle is what I came upon. It's been perfect to drizzle over my salads, and my doctor approves since it's a healthy type of fat and I'm keeping the amount I use under control.
Healthy fats, healthy salad
While this avocado oil is a bit steep for my price range, I like to buy it when I can because it tastes so good. I love to use it as a replacement or addition to my salad dressing on salads. I also use it on fruit salads.
Why do I love avocado so much? It's full of healthy fats that are good for the body, mind and soul. It tastes delicious.
