December 16th, 2016

Stumped about what to wear to your holiday parties this year? Radiant skin amps up any outfit, so that’s a good place to start!

Fortunately, it’s easy to get glowing with this simple, five-ingredient facial luminizer. Mica, a mineral powder, gives this creamy highlighter a captivating gleam while coconut oil helps skin retain its moisture. The result? A nourishing but lightweight shimmer that can be worn alone or over your normal makeup. Got some time before your next event? You may want to fill up on vitamin A–rich foods like dried apricots, red bell peppers, and kale—and check out some of our DIY winter skin treatments, too.

You’re going to light up the room!

Highlighting Luminizer

What you need

3 tablespoons beeswax pastilles
3 tablespoons coconut oil
1 tablespoon jojoba oil
2 1/2 teaspoons gold mica
1 3/4 teaspoons silver mica
Heat-proof glass jar
Small glass jars

Instructions

Place a heat-proof glass jar in the center of a medium-sized saucepan. Add beeswax, coconut oil, and jojoba oil to the glass jar. Pour 3 inches of water into the pan; heat until beeswax has completely melted. Remove glass jar from the pan and add the gold and silver mica powders; stir to combine. Transfer liquid to small glass jars, and let the luminizer cool for 20 minutes before using. No refrigeration necessary so you can store this at room temperature with the rest of your cosmetics.

To apply, use your fingertips to lightly spread across your cheekbones, brow bones, and the inner corners of your eyelids—or anywhere else you want to catch the light.
