If You Care

If You Care (11)

If You Care was the first brand to offer unbleached coffee filters in the United States. Chlorine-free parchment paper and baking cups followed, as well as recycled aluminum foil.

When it comes to setting up a well-stocked kitchen that’s ready for baking, tools like muffin tins, stand mixers, spatulas, and sheet trays get a lot of attention. But the quieter, unsung heroes are products—like baking cups and parchment paper—that help your baked goods look and taste like they’re the work of a professional kitchen. As with everything food-related, we like to be as thoughtful as possible with the materials we bring into our home, and the brands we support with our dollars. If You Care is one of the companies that helps make it easy to choose environmentally-friendly household products, so get ready to stock up, start your ovens, and get cooking.

The History of If You Care

In 1990, If You Care was launched as an environmentally-friendly kitchen and household products brand that continues to lead the way in sustainability. It was the first company to offer unbleached coffee filters in the United States (it’s very first product!). Parchment paper and baking cups followed, and in 2004, If You Care’s aluminum foil hit the market made from 100% recycled aluminum. Its entire line of paper products are chlorine-free and unbleached, which means less damage to rivers, streams, and lakes.

If You Care Company Mission

If You Care products are designed to have the least environmental impact possible. The brand was built as an eco-friendly business from the start, and continues to innovate with products like carbon neutral firelighters (made from FSC-certified wood) and compostable sponges made from cellulose and non-GMO cotton. Its non-stick parchment roasting bags will help you kick your plastic habit to the curb.

Benefits of If You Care

At If You Care, sustainability is a top priority, and the brand’s extensive list of certifications proves how committed it is to being one of the best eco-friendly options around.

  • Forest Stewardship Council (FSC): If You Care only uses unbleached paper from forests that have been certified to be responsibly managed.
  • Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI): This certification means the products are compostable in commercial and municipal composting facilities.
  • OK Compost Home: Backyard composters can fill their bins, too. This is one of the world’s only home composting certifications, which is based on the European standard.
  • USDA: All of If You Care’s products are certified biobased, according to the USDA standards, and come from renewable resources that offer an alternative to petroleum-based products.
  • Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS): This designation is recognized as one of the world’s leading standards for textiles made from organic fibers.
  • Fair Rubber: If You Care is a member of the Fair Rubber Association, which promotes the production of environmentally-friendly rubber. The association abides by fair trade practices for the rubber tappers, who decide how the money is spent in their communities.
